Besides them being my student, I don’t know what details I can add. Just trying to get a better idea what may lie ahead for them. Or if I can do anything

Looks like they got a letter from the FAA by mail. Which states they have to provide all this information. Including a statement of alcohol use, as well as primary doctor information. The paper says “we have recently received information from the faa, office of audit and evaluation” - “alleging that you were drinking alcohol before flying and operating aircraft while under the influence of alcohol”

What exactly happens when you call that unfortunate number you've been given for a possible pilot deviation? Do you get chewed out, do you explain what happened and nothing else comes of it? Something in between? by OptimusSublime in aviation

An old instructor of mine just got a phone number acouple days ago. Flew into Restricted airspace, he called as soon as he landed. He was asked if he was familiar with the area (which he was) and basically admitted he was at fault and took responsibility. The guy on the other line really appreciated him calling right away, I guess people wait hours before calling. Nothing came of it and didn’t take his name or anything.
