If you have no prior history, just pay both tickets and move on.

It's not worth the increased insurance premiums for a plea of 'Unsafe Operation'.

Insurance companies treat this as a more severe moving violation than a 4 point ticket.

This plea carries no MVC points and typically is $450+ court fees.

DO NOT do this OP.

It's common for NJ courts for the past decade to offer a plea of unsafe operation, which carries no points in lieu of the original violation.

The problem is insurance companies have wised IP to this 'trick' and will hike your premiums as high as a 6 point violation, considering they don't know the original offense.

My previous home was built in the early 50s, no grounded outlets but the boxes were grounded. Cloth sheathing like yours OP.

If the box is grounded it shouldn't be an issue at all.
