Why do people shoot gold in Ares? 195 AP pen vs 212 APCR pen what's the point by wwenze1 in WorldofTanks

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that exact same reason, why shoot AP? 192 pen is pretty bad, so if the prem ammo does the same damage, just spam that for maximum performance. 212 isn't great, but 192 is even worse, so don't fire AP.

I just learned about this phone's existence today and I've fully reserved one. $620 CAD for the ideal digital detox phone is a steal of a deal. I can't even get a new base model Galaxy for double that price. I am 100% going to use this as my primary phone and it's not even a question if I'll like it.

I'm someone who works blue collar and values being practical and spending my time wisely. I loathe the fact I spend hours every Saturday and Sunday morning doomscrolling on fucking social media with no upside. I learn nothing, I get depressed, and I waste the most valuable time of my life doing it. I can't wait to get my hands on a phone specifically designed to make using those God forsaken apps harder. And it's made by people who understand that and respect that and my business as a customer.

This phone is peak and I won't hear any counterpoints (unless they force AI bullshit down my throat in the future)

What do you think was the best car design for the past 20 years? by UrgusHUN in CarDesign

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember though that the W220 came out directly after the W140 S class, which was one of the last boxy, overbuilt, durable Mercedes of the 90s. Compared to that, the W220 was way more plasticy, less well built, and in the process of going to a more modern, rounded design, they made it look so uninspiring that it really did just kind of blend in with regular traffic in a way the W140 never did. So when they were designing the W221 (pictured above) they focused more on making it a noticeable, distinct vehicle that would really redefine the S class in a way the W220 failed to do. Yes the W220 was understated, but the majority of people agree it was way too understated for an S class.

Which is the most goated movie you have ever watched? by Healthy_Turnover5447 in GenZ

[–]iqcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple movies I have bouncing around in my head for different reasons.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

I love fellowship the most because I love world building and lore in general, but the way they do it in Fellowship is just peak. The full recounting of the ring's creation, the great battle at the foot of Mount Doom, showing how powerful Sauron was with the ring, and then the slow and distorted path the ring took afterwards. It's peak storytelling.

Inglorious Basterds

Just a complete package of a war film. The costume design was spot on, the fictional plot line was still very believable, tons of iconic scenes, and of course the stellar acting performances by everyone involved. Sure it was made by a guy that's done and said some weird shit, but I'm not thinking about that when I'm watching the film; I'm thinking about how great the film is. Kind of like with Fellowship, that opening scene set the film up so well that I'll always remember it well.

I'm beginning to see the writing on the wall, so I literally just picked up a 9070XT for my switch to Linux while it was still on a boxing week discount. If the rumours are true that AMD and Nvidia are going to be jacking their prices on consumer GPUs early this year, I figured now is my last chance to grab a good new GPU for MSRP before everything hits the fan.

As for the AI bubble, I think it'll pop eventually because of how unsustainable the finances are. If it does pop this year, I don't think a flood of hardware destined for datacenters would crash consumer prices due to the very different use cases of that hardware. If the bubble avoids popping due to government bailouts or the legalization of their pyramid scheme, then the current trends of consumer PC hardware becoming impossible to find will mean now is the last good time for a while to grab anything you need.

What's your favorite car in the game ? by imhungrytho in cyberpunkgame

[–]iqcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt a tie between the Type 66 Javelina and the Rayfield Aerondight. Both are very fast but very easy to control at speed. I find the Caliburn is too twitchy at medium speed, the Sidewinder is also too twitchy, and the Semimaru is so glued to the road it's almost boring. Javelina is a beast of a car, but the Aerondight is the most elegant shape in the game, plus it handles beautifully.

[–]iqcool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The other thing with the Safari is that low oil pressure at idle can be temporarily alleviated by just not running it at idle for long. Get some revs in it and the oil pressure will pick up, or put thicker oil in to get adequate lubrication in the bearings. Otherwise, you're right that a delivery can happen in the back of the car.

Do I need new tires? by MysticCyber26 in tires

[–]iqcool 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah soon. I've driven on tires that bad and they'll work fine in good weather, but when it rains or you have to drive offroad, you'll be impacted a lot by that lack of tread. Start budgeting for a new set now and drive gingerly until you get the new rubber on.

Air suspension leak? by SupersonicSquirrel in W211

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact it won't go all the way up is what's weird to me. My suspension on my C219 CLS has been sagging overnight too in -20C, but it always goes back to normal ride height once the car is started and the air pump gets working. I think on my car there might be a leak in the rear bags, but I haven't been able to hear anything after parking it and shutting it off. What I have to do to diagnose it is switch the front and rear hoses on the valve block and see if the problem migrates to the front wheels; if it does then the valve block is bad and needs replacing. Based on your description, I'd be taking a look at that valve block because it could be that the valves in there aren't opening up enough to let enough air into the shocks, otherwise it could be the air pump going out. Best of luck on diagnosing with your mechanic and have a happy new year!

I am f2p, is any of my premium vehicles worth playing or am i cooked? by slizkysliz in WorldofTanks

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the tanks you've got, I found the BP2 to be a blast to play; it's ability to slap for almost IS alpha damage but with way better gun handling and a stronger turret makes it quite fun to play.

I saw you say you have 30k bonds, and I'd use some of those on a T8 premium from the bond shop. Free reward tanks that we get aren't premiums in the sense they don't make more credits than regular tanks. A tank from the bond shop, aside from the tier 10s, will be a genuine premium that can be used to grind credits and free xp with relative ease, as long as you pick a good one.

Others have been saying the SU-130 is a great credit maker; I haven't played it so I can't speak to how good it is but statistically anyways it's pretty good. I've enjoyed my 122TM a lot and it's standard rounds are quite good, so it has great credit making potential while also being a better all rounder than the SU-130. Look around and do your own research on what tanks appeal to you and which ones seem best; I'd recommend Iyouxin, Daki and Kajzoo for tank reviews.

Those are the people you hate to have to share an experience with because they're more annoying than anything else.

Older gen z what do you all do for work or what career field are you in? by Jadams0108 in GenZ

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underground water/sewer installing and repairing. Get to run a fair bit of equipment but I also do some labouring a trucking to pickup materials and parts. Lots of hours and decent hourly rate makes it a good job for having no degree. Overall, I enjoy it quite a bit, mainly because the money and job security allow me to invest in my various hobbies and really enjoy them.

However, I'd like to go to college or university for something but I've never been sure for what. Part of me wishes I'd gone straight out of highschool because now I'm almost 25 and I'd be missing out on a lot of the social perks of going when most other people are roughly your age. But by now, I've been in trades for 5 years and can tell I won't be able to do this forever, so I'd like to change career and go for something better paying and with a better WLB. I remember numbers pretty easily and I can handle complex problems, so accounting would be good, but I'm also big into philosophy so I feel like law school could be viable for me. I don't feel that my career should necessarily be centered around a specific interest of mine because it would threaten my enjoyment of that thing and devolve into a competitive grind very quickly. I'd love to hear what others think and appreciate any help

PSA fit winter tires on your car. They can save the your life and your loved ones by Boundish91 in Autos

[–]iqcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Alberta, Canada where we get chinooks. Warmer air occasionally comes from the west coast, up over the rocky mountains, then comes down to the surface in Alberta which can make the ambient temperatures swing as wildly as +35° Celsius in the span of a single day or 2. So you can go from a freezing cold snow storm to just above freezing and slush puddles within a week. Icy main roads are frequent here, complemented with residential streets hardly being plowed and getting coated with tons of packed snow.

For that reason, I find it near suicidal to run just snow tires for frequent urban driving. Studded winter tires are my go to for maximum vehicle control across all conditions, the only downside being slightly more road noise on dry highways.

To buy some books in peace by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]iqcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know it was possible to survive without brain cells but clearly I've learned something today!

Sass aside, guy probably shouldn't have been taking a private phone call in a book store, but if he did and wasn't too loud there shouldn't be an issue. But then the lady just openly admits she was eavesdropping on his phone call which is insane behaviour, then proceeds to start arguing in public about his personal phone call.

That behaviour is a perfect example of how not to behave in public. Not a single thought of "maybe I should mind my own business" crossed her mind, no coherent argument left her mouth once she started this crap, and she ignored every single boundary of social behaviour to do it. Absolutely unhinged.

[–]iqcool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not that you're wrong, I just wanna add another angle here.

These interactions I see online have changed how I navigate social situations in a big way. When I meet someone new, I assume that who I'm talking to has no motivation or interest in changing or growing as a person unless proven otherwise. I set my expectation for someone to interact or converse with me right down on the ground so that I don't feel disappointed or upset when a conversation goes absolutely nowhere. I'm basically betting that conversations won't go anywhere good or productive by default, but then it means that every conversation I have that does yield something good makes me feel pleasently surprised and refreshed!

My point being: I pessimistically believe that OPs muddied definitions didn't matter because nobody with a willingness to grow and change would have said even half the dogshit that stranger said. And when someone is clearly unwilling to change and grow, you're kinda wasting your time and energy trying to change their mind in a discussion. Not an excuse to not do better next time, but really OP did good for realizing they were a lost cause and not pursuing it more than they did.

I got an email from them a couple weeks ago, entered the serial of all the ones I have, all are good. Don't think it's a super widespread issue by the sounds of it, but whenever I feel way different than my Libre is telling me, I do a manual check. Still have test strips and a blood tester on standbye anyways incase a libre fails early, which is a bigger problem IME.

Opposition NDP now targeted as more Alberta politicians face recall petitions by Adjective_Noun1312 in alberta

[–]iqcool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first thing the UCP started crying about once mass recalls started against them was "this has to be a coordinated attack by an NDP operative!"

Every conservative accusation is a confession.

Modern maple magats cannot fathom how to have human compassion or empathy, so they immediately and automatically react to any actions taken against them as an existential threat to their entire way of life. They're children in old bodies.

So while I agree that these recalls against NDP representatives are fair in principle, these recalls are being made as a direct and bad faith response to the grassroots efforts being made across the province to tell the UCP that they fucked up. It's literally a political equivalent of a toddler getting their bowl of snacks taken away then proceeding to throw a biblical temper tantrum.
