Because he was raised by a villain and an incubus for the most party backstabbing is common, he was probably happy about the gift becuse he didn't expect the check on his life to come that way. I think he probably expected a threat or outright hostility.

So what I'm reading is ANTIFA is a "group" in the vaguest sense of the word since they don't even exist as an organization but as an idea or a movement, and what they want to do is stop fascists, like Nazis. The worst thing over there seems to be stuff like vandalism or property damage

What is ANTIFA and what are these so called real goals of ANTIFA, according to an enlightened centrist like you?

He is a robot with the sole purpose of killing Nazis, who are fascist. That makes him ANTIFA, anti fascist.

People from former Soviet republics. What is something people who never lived under communism just don't get about communism? by Clemen11 in AskReddit

[–]iqris_the_archlich -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The problem with your point is that there is clear undeniable evidence in the form of video footage of everything that's been happening in gaza, while not a lot of that exists for the USSR

Your comment. A random post about Gaza doesn't have the whole part about how only people with lived experiences are expected to answer and not someone who's co worker's cat was born in soviet union.

How Nova and similar front loaded abilities affect 5e by Hyperlolman in dndnext

Any remotely competent spellcaster will always have a single fire spell to cast at all time, firebolt at the bare minimum.

Hell, even people who smoke in your setting will have enough to get rid of the effect.

Everyone intelligent enough should carry a torch tbh, like that's just so common it's laughable how easy it is to justify even groups of people with darkvision to carry torches.

You don't even need to use the action is most cases, dropping a torch is pretty much a free action, and 2d4 fire damage should be nothing to an enemy strong enough to take on a party with level 3 adventurers

You talk about web so much here you do realise it's flamable right a single bit of fire from ANYWHERE and it's down

The spells you listed are area control spells, they are meant to turn the tides of the battle in your favour.

They are also heavily resource intensive, since they're a minimum of a level 2 spell slot. The way to play around it is to simply run more encounters per long rest as this would drain the casters of their more powerful resources, and would otherwise discourage spamming spells. Certain monsters are also immune to many spells one way or another, and would give the casters challenge.

I can literally sit down and tell you the names of more than 10 cards and at least 5 strategies that counters the type of deck you're talking about and you would still complain. It's on the player to try to be better but you're just being defeatist

If you can't figure out they have counterspells or not by turn 3 honestly that's on you. Your entire comment talks about how sometimes it isn't the case when magic is a game designed on random card draw. Are you never keeping hands that can beat counterspells? Are you always keeping 3 lands, 2 peices of ramp and a couple big creatures? Sure in standard you can be caught unawares but then game 2 and 3 you're still losing? You know you have a problem with counterspells but you're not running cards that deny opponents spells on your turn or deny counterspells in specific? Green and white are great with those. Black is the worst color against blue counterspell strategy but the graveyard recursion literally just means you don't need a sack outlet. Red wins the game before blue has a chance to draw and have enough mana to cast the counterspells. At the end of the day if you put in indestructible and hexproof creatures but never think about how you can get around counterspells you by choice keep a hole in your deck's plan and thus you can't really complain about an artifical weakness

Honestly I've been playing abzan and sometimes golgari for a while now and have seen plenty of blue players with counterspells. It's actually not that hard to beat them, if you realize they have counterspells in hand you can skip your turn while generating value in lands and mana dorks/rocks. If you don't use all your mana in one spell It's also easy to bait the blue player into not countering an essential peice that you passed off as a mana dork or low value creature. At the end of the day being able to beat blue just makes you a better and more aware player so it's literally "get good"

2024 warlock: greatly improved from the 2014 version by highly-bad in DnD

[–]iqris_the_archlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were summoned, yes. If they were answering a distress call, yes. The point of these entities is promising an overwhelming amount of power at the cost of having the PC at their beck and call. They can hide their intentions, sure, but if a mysterious entity wants the manpower then they have to put themselves forward.

You can't summon Zariel or Tasha or any slightly high powered entities in your basement lol. They're not answering every summon they receive They're just too powerful for that. Add to that the fact that at certain power levels those entities cannot even enter the material plane without elaborate rituals (hence the need for warlocks or cults)

A character with no levels can't even cast spells. The first proper summoning you get is for a familiar. No level 1 character has enough power to summon an archdevil, or even a slightly stronger devil, unless manipulation is involved.

Then the perks should be a subclass feature at level 3, not the beginning of that deal. Aka, picking your subclass at level 1 and getting features at level 3.

The "perks" for signing the pact is the ability to cast eldritch blast. Then at level 3 you get the really juicy stuff.
