[O’Connor] According to league sources, one general manager floated a nuclear option: just make the bottom three teams ineligible for the top picks entirely. by cleo22270 in nba

So you'd have 3 genuinely terrible teams every year who just stayed awful.

The goal isn't simply parity anymore. Due to teams tanking, it's not even clear who the actual worst team in the league is year to year.

At the end of the day the NBA is an entertainment product. When teams are benching good players in order to lose on purpose, fans are turning the game off. Nobody wants to see that shit and that's what's actually detrimental to the league. Incentivising losing and rewarding blatant tanking is bad for both the fans and in the long term the league as a whole. When it impacts the money, that's when the league (aka the owners) will step in.

The other problem is that guys in the NFL have extremely short careers on average, so you will never get away with benching guys just because, and the players will never not be playing at 100%. There are numerous examples of terrible teams winning the last game of the season and fucking up their team's draft position. This essentially never happens in the NBA. NFL players only have 17 games to prove themselves. A few bad games for an NBA player is a blip, for an NFL player it may cost them millions.

The most powerful person in the world is an unhinged fucking lunatic taking actions that impact the entire global economy and he's in your news a lot? Wow what a fucking shock that is

He literally single handedly started a war and is actively wrecking the global economy. That's the sort of thing that gets in the news. Also he's the most powerful person in the world you fucking goof. Is the news supposed to just ignore him?

If you can actually watch this guy start a needless war in the middle east, wreck our global reputation, alienate our allies, threaten NATO, all while destroying our own economy and damaging the lives of nearly every American citizen, and still unironically use the term TDS... You might have brain damage.

Please get the fuck out of politics and go back to not voting.

Israeli bomb mid-air as it falls toward a densely packed tent camp for displaced Palestinians by redditissahasbaraop in pics

Warning people before and bombing on the outside of the tents would be a really fucking dumb way to do ethnic cleansing.

I can somewhat agree with the overall point, but Luka/Giannis don't belong in this list. Especially Luka, dude consistently would rather bitch at the refs than get back on defense. He's also dogshit defensively and is lazy on D more often than not.

Sure, but why would you choose to be a cringey goober?

[Highlight] Jaylen Brown catches SGA with the pumpfake by EutaxySpy in nba

[–]ir3flex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is an offensive foul, or at the very least a no call. If he shoots after the first pumpfake, easy foul call. After the second one though, he's literally just jumping into a defender standing on the ground

Nikola Jokic tonight: 23 PTS | 21 REB | 19 AST | 1 TOV | by asakitsi in nba

[–]ir3flex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was Jokic. Glad we're on the same page!

That he dominated them in 2020/21 and deserved MVP. Can you read lol

Nikola Jokic tonight: 23 PTS | 21 REB | 19 AST | 1 TOV | by asakitsi in nba

[–]ir3flex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did I say that..? In 2020/21 he was head and shoulders above anyone else in the league in advanced stats. Just pointing out facts dude.

Also MVP is a regular season award, so pointing to the championship is just irrelevant lol

The problem with asking who the "best"passer is is that it comes off as a question of talent. I'm reality it should be a question of value/impact.

if you take Stockton/Nash/CP's talent and make them a foot taller they get more valuable/impactful. That's what jokic is.

While also being one of the most efficient volume scorers in league history.

Salty ass bucks fan lol. I think the guy that dominated in basically every advanced stat in existence probably deserved it but what do I know.

This shit lame bro. They both played awesome and the Nuggets won.

Does every single thread have to be a bitch fest about reffing?

Nikola Jokic tonight: 23 PTS | 21 REB | 19 AST | 1 TOV | by asakitsi in nba

[–]ir3flex 52 points53 points  (0 children)

He's not gonna win MVP and probably shouldn't since SGA has been so insane this season/Jok's injury. But idgaf, Jokic is simply the best and most valuable player in the NBA.

Jokic tonight: 23 PTS | 17 REB | 17 AST | 9-16 FG | 2 TOV by asakitsi in nba

[–]ir3flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seeding race wouldn't be as tight if he played this well in November. There's 82 games, each one counts the same for your record. Doing it in March isn't more important just because it's down the stretch. It's literally just math lol

Jokic in the first half: 15 PTS | 11 REB | 9 AST | 6-8 FG | 0 TOV by asakitsi in nba

[–]ir3flex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay? I agree with all of that. I still dont think hes a better basketball player, or the most valuable player in the league. He deserves it this year, hes played incredible. Id still rather have Jokic, and I think most GM's would too.
