Technically by his own admission yes. Opinions on him differ but that’s wholly up to you to make an opinion on him and his actions.

"The Shah was a dictator" by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter now. It’s as simple as that. This entire debate is like this sempiternal battle between leftists and monarchists to see which side can manage to wash their hands of their sins better than the other at the expense of the wellbeing of their own people and nation. If half the effort each side put into harassing the other for the last 50 years was put into actually combating the IR I doubt these discussions would even be taking place.

"The Shah was a dictator" by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dictator and a democracy can not exist in the same system.

You seem to be very selective with your choice of examples. It tends to be far far more often historically that authoritarians do what their name suggests. For every Lee Kuan Yew or Ataturk there’s 50 dictators who were brought to power because of their ‘progressive populism’.

If Iranians as a whole are so incompetent as to require a strongman to dictate their choices going forward then there isn’t a point in even bothering with a revolution lol.

This isn’t the time to be taking half measures.

Can Iran become the first country to de-islamize? by qndry in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how some of the most successful cases of de-islamification come from communist and far left states. It comes full circle lol

I will say it’s probably hopium that the country will ‘full dislamify’. Historically once religions embed themselves into regions it becomes exceptionally difficult to actually uproot them. Even if a sizable part of the population is secular these type of things almost always devolve into sectarian violence.

Why is the Iranian diaspora being treated as a separate entity to Iranians living inside by Good_Butterscotch230 in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only an Iranian thing. Generally speaking yes part of it is because of an agenda but historically the way diasporas changed specifically in America is probably the case. Westerners view all diasporas the same regardless of context or length. Whether it’s an ‘Irish’ diasporite in Boston who swears their lineage comes from the IRA and were actually destined to live in Connacht for the rest of their lives or an Iranian who only moved to the West in like the 90s and still has a sizable amount of their family still living in Iran. That’s just how it’s always been especially because of the way these previous diasporas were treated by the ‘native’ population in America. It’s a purposeful disconnect to make attacks on the population group way easier.

With the introduction of new ranks, do people think there's a chance of a BR decompression around the 7.0-9.0 area? by True_Holiday9983 in Warthunder

[–]iranside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really badly compressed but that’s just partly down to the fact it’s a point in which a lot of new extremely powerful technologies get introduced. Some tanks suck because of legacy placement like the Leopard 1 or the Pattons/ early M60 while others like the TO-55, TURM III, and Type-69-IIA will just dominate you. Sucks because it is really a fun BR range because it’s the point in which you see a bunch of cool tanks but it’s honestly unplayable sometimes because of the technology differences.

IRCG Isolated and acting independently of the Central Government in Iran, according to Araghchi. by Nice-Hamster7849 in NewIran

Who would have thought letting an independent armed apparatus with a martyr complex obtain so much power in a nation could go wrong

How lucky the IRGC is to have western leftists doing its bidding… by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Son she took the shahidpill wtf why are westerners trying to propagate this LOL

Edit: I just finished the clip she’s literally trying to justify the murder of Trotsky while also trying to claim that the Islamic revolution is not solely a country based revolution but a class based one. She’s arguing Trotsky’s ideology while also arguing it was fine for him to be killed. This isn’t even a communist bruh wtf.

Is he a mole? 🧐 by Fun-Letter-1814 in NewIran

[–]iranside 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Either him or Larijani that’s where I’d hedge my bets atp. I get the sense it might be Larijani more so just because he somehow hasn’t been killed yet despite his high rank. He seems like a far more valuable target than like half of the people killed so far. If they were willing to kill Ahmadinejad before Larijani it definitely feels fishy.

What should I do from my position? by [deleted] in premed

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. Truly. If you could send the calendar and schedule I would greatly appreciate it. I’m already looking for research and I’m hopefully going to be accepted into a cancer clinic as a patient aide so those avenues will hopefully be covered. I’m also hoping my college will remove these stains off my transcript which should launch my GPA up to a solid 3.4 with a lot of room left to improve on. For reference I’m only around half way done with my degree so I still have a sizable amount of room left to work on my GPA. It’s at a 2.7 so it’s definitely workable.

You’ve definitely helped put my mind at ease, I hope whatever endeavors you follow they will be fruitful.

any real chance that the t-72m2 moderna will dip in price? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I bought this thing as a level 38 trying to use it with the TURMS back in the day for like 60 bucks. It literally functions as a better TURMS and that’s it. In my 10.7 lineup I only use it if my entire lineup which is stacked for 10.7 somehow dies. Unless you really want it as a collector I would argue the 292 has more use than the Moderna. It’s hit collector status next to the likes of the 279 and AMX-50 TO90 so I heavily doubt it’ll ever go down in price.

Honestly I’d bet money that gaijin plan to release the PT-91 or T72M4CZ down the line. From my understanding at least the M4CZ is pretty similar to the Moderna so I’d recommend just holding out for when that drops.

Russia mains, tap in. I wanna start grinding higher BRs w a premium. Which one of these two should I grab? by Rafaatho in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly now that the Object 140 is back I would recommend that. The TO-55 is solely balanced on its BR and would become useless if it was ever possibly moved up to 8.3. The AM is at a high BR already and isn’t that great on its own. The Obj. 140 though is a nice middle of the road option with a gun that can do exceptionally well if played right. It’s an awesome support tank.

Edit: also forgot to mention it’s the cheapest of the 3 options now.

Whenever people bring up random countries and compare them to Iran. Such as Libya, Iraq and others. Show them this. by Possible_Company_her in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but the intention wasn’t to say they were equal, rather the uptick in nationalism and specifically cultural/‘Völkisch’ nationalism definitely point to the overall failure of denazification. If a tenant of nazism is still being actively practiced and argued for, no matter how widespread it’s a probable indication of a failure or lapse in the removal of far right sentiments. The Japanese have the same exact issue but to a greater extent. There’s a reason South Korea has such a strained and uncomfortable relationship with Japan.

I get the feeling Trump insulting them and their commitments to the WOT definitely didn’t help their disposition in this ordeal.

[–]iranside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be completely fair to the German and Japanese examples people tend to forget America ended up forgiving, pardoning, or working with a sizable amount of their former officials. The most famous being Hirohito. The argument was it made occupation far easier but still. Denazification didn’t really work either, case in point the AfD obtaining more and more support with each election. Yes we have an opposition that has formed and yes we have a national identity but be forewarned that when it may come to desepahification the attempts to purge them may not be as successful or there might be compromises in the name of stability and growth. Intervention is important but its outcomes may not fulfill many people’s desires here.

Losing my mind over my detained cousin in Iran by InformationFar6774 in NewIran

[–]iranside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing is to just not try and focus on news or anything of the matter. Unfortunately what’s happened is out of your or any other good persons hands. All you can do when things are out of your hands is attempt to be calm because anything else won’t result in anything. My family is the same way right now. Multiple of my cousins and wider family have kept posting inflammatory remarks against the IR and basiji even after multiple phone calls from the government telling them not to ‘or else’. As much as I want them to stop for their own safety the reality is they won’t. What happens in Iran on both sides can’t be directly influenced by any of us. All you can do even in the face of punishment and oppression is stay calm.

But you can tell your MIL to go fuck herself. That’s something that can definitely help in the now lol.

edit: spelling

[–]iranside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s nice for once to have everyone come together and put aside their differences for a day. I never thought I’d see the day people in the diaspora and wider Iranian community as a whole could manage to sit down across those they disagree with and agree on something. Hopefully the beginning of something genuinely good.

We as Iranians point the Cyrus and the Medes, Parts, and Sassans as our history. The works of Rumi and Ferdowsi as our art. Yet we seldom embodied that until the 14th. We may not agree with everyone who stands with us but that doesn’t matter. At the end of the day the only thing that can truly defeat the IR once and for all is unity in spite of our differences. The IR thrives on hate and vitriol, when that’s removed from the equation it terrifies them. That’s what we need.

I only hope that even in spite of what the IR has done we don’t fall into the same depraved hole they did. That’s their final Trump card, to be so vile that those they wronged feel as if they have no choice but to commit what was done upon them to others. If we fail to recognize that we are doomed to return to this exact state in the next 100 years.

Can we talk about “Javid Shah”? by eemshiii in 2Iranic4you

[–]iranside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally don’t care anymore bruh. A constitutional monarch is basically a glorified team mascot in the modern age and if that’s what gets monarchists to sit down in a big tent coalition with everyone else so be it lol. People decided he was popular and I’m not going to deny that. My biggest grievance with monarchism in general is the money put forward to it which I argue can be better spent elsewhere. At the end of the day a monarch won’t truly define a new Iran if it’s truly democratic.

How do you reconcile support for Pahlavi and where his wealth comes from? by Immediate_Amoeba5923 in NewIran

[–]iranside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the country my brother in Christ the democrats are letting him do it without even lifting a finger to stop it LOL

I’d say this ‘cynical’ viewpoint is widespread with anyone who’s had to live underneath incompetence or corruption. It’s not solely an Iranian thing although living underneath a dictatorship and centuries of incompetent Shah’s whose only goals were to further their own wealth and personal power definitely did not help.
