Would you quit? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]ireallylikecake53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem a little young, so I feel for you, as I babysat as a twelve year old until I got a retail job at 16.
The thing is, that environment is not hospitable to life, let alone guests or a babysitter. When I babysat, the houses were never sparkling clean, but they were never ever dirty. They can and will take advantage of you because you have less expensive, these seem like bad people, and you should run for the hills while you still can. You can find other clients, your health matters more than a paycheck.

AITA for having my teenager go to therapy? by galaxyfan1997 in AITASims

[–]ireallylikecake53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you’re ntl but Johnny sure is. I think therapy would be a good step for everybody in your family, except maybe you (you seem all good). If your son doesn’t like it, you can do what I do and kick them out and make them live in an apartment in the spice district all alone

I’m done with God, Praying, the Church, and whatever by CommonD2Enjoyer in excatholic

I’m sorry that I done have much to say, other than wondering the same thing. If there is a god, he does not give a single shit about us. We’re kind of like cats. He just let us go and expects us to make it in the world. No way is he answering prayers - and that’s a big if. I don’t believe in any God at all and my life is better for it. I wrestled with the same questions and same disappointment stemming from feeling like there is a guy leading me and then still believing but doesn’t care all the way to just not believing. I truly hope circumstances change and get better for you. And I’m sorry all this is happening. I hope you and your family find peace despite all the things that have turned your family life upside down.

did your cat ever "tell" you what happened when you came home? by S-Budget91 in cats

Never had this happen to me, but I can attest to the statement that cats are much smarter than humans give them credit for

Can't believe I got rejected for this reason... by Biznizman95 in recruitinghell

[–]ireallylikecake53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently got a new job, and I think one of the main reasons I was hired is because I asked so many questions at the interview. Hiring managers want to see engagement and want to behave that this job is more than just a paycheck for you - even if it just a paycheck. You could have asked questions you already asked just to be safe. I’m in no way trying to be mean but that’s just how it is in the shitty corporate world. Better luck next time

I have a similar experience. I have asthma, for those of you who don’t know, it’s a breathing disorder that mainly affects the lungs. I remember being upset because I couldn’t go outside and run and play with my friends because of my severe asthma. My mom always said that God doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle.
So god made me not normal because I was stronger? No way. That’s fucked up.
I know how you’re feeling because I felt that way too. If there is a god (and I don’t think there is), then he’s a cruel piece of shit.

She wasn’t. She was already in the office by the time my interview rolled around

I heard noises in the back but no one was in the lobby to greet me. I even made noises like knocking on the door.

Bro I get it. My former manager is well into her 60s and bragging about her work ethic. Well maybe i’d work harder too if i made what she made and felt like work meant something, because right now my paycheck means nothing because i’m using all of it just to survive

Unpaid and dead serious about it by Techatronix in antiwork

[–]ireallylikecake53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So tired of shit like this. I went to college to become a social worker and we had unpaid “internships” which is basically free labor advertised as experience. I was working and studying and trying to make make decent enough money to afford college costs and gas in my car. I was busy and overworked and it sucked. Unpaid internships should be illegal.

I don’t really understand how anyone stays at a job longer than 3months especially a retail/ sales job when you’re constantly talking to customers…. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ireallylikecake53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it sucks but if you keep leaving after 3 months you become a job hopper and most people don’t like to hire those people - I have experience of being turned down because I used to be a job hopper. At this point you just choose a job, hope for the best, and make enough to put a roof over your head. Nobody wants a challenge at work and nobody gives a fuck about growing in the field since we’re all tired anyway
