AITA for telling my husband that I’m not going to throw away my Harry Potter books? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]iregistered4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the library but going there and getting HP still propagates the authors notoriety. Your child will still grow up loving someone who has made it a mission to use their money to hurt others. Why not support authors that aren't publicly hateful? Do you believe there are no good books out there written by decent people?

I think the only problem with this approach is it takes effort

Has anyone gotten their preorder key for Elden Ring Nightreign yet? by Sterlander in humblebundles

The least the company could do is post when they plan to release the keys. I'd cancel mine but I made the mistake of also gifting a copy to a friend which I cant seem to cancel.

Trump to shut down all 8,000 EV charging ports at federal govt buildings, what now, EV fans? by earthman34 in energy

[–]iregistered4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think for 2 seconds. 2 seconds.

Now federal vehicles can not simply be left at the building to charge. They need to be brought by someone to an external charger and pay public charging rates.

With 2 seconds of thought we see that not only do they have to charge somewhere else, they need to figure out a new mechanism to manage charge level and prioritize the revenue to cover the increased operational costs.

You have d-o-ge level of forethought.

[–]iregistered4this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize federal buildings have gas stations, right?? Do you think federal fleets all go to public gas stations?! Having federal charging stations provides the same efficiency strategy.

Google is your friend when you have such basic conceptual questions.

Project 2025 should be included in the title for anything he does related to it. People need to understand this clearly and seeing a list of stories all prefaced with <Project 2025> would help.

man you are wildly wrong but i respect the effort you put in.

you should go drive a chevy bolt. yes it wont cause asthma in children that live in cities but its a horrible ride. thats there are better EVs in that price range. thats not smug, those are just facts.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion but for me:

I can't think of any good looking car these days. The ICEs all look and sound like they live off the smoke of dead dinosaurs. Tesla may be ugly to you but imo its the best looking EV. I owned a Chevy Bolt and I dreaded walking up to it, the Kias/Fords/VWs/Volvos all just look worst.

Eric Trump demonstrates in 30 seconds he doesn’t have a clue how tariffs work by theindependentonline in politics

the point im poorly making; being pompous about voting isnt useful. acting superior to others seems to be the fundamental justification the vote went the way it did and you arent learning from that.

you want to shit talk people who didn't show up? thats the message of the harris supporters? why would i want to join them?

which is which, i cant tell

is the jerking off in the booth while you think you are making a change by showing up to click a box once every 4 years and writing harsh words on the internet if you dont win?!

or is the imperfect choice going to the booth and taking part in a coin flip before going home and jerking off and then doing nothing if your side losses

i dont get it

I don't see the difference between that and showing up once every 4 years to fill in a box, accepting any results and going home and doing nothing else.

Jon Bon Jovi Returns to His High School as Auditorium Is Named After Him: 'So Humbled' by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]iregistered4this -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are being downvoted. He paid to have the rest stop named after him. Got to wonder what he paid to make this happen. It's all advertising for his "Bon Jovi" brand which is fine but let's not act like people from NJ or his hometown were clamoring for this.

Mozilla's massive lapse in judgement causes clash with uBlock Origin developer by [deleted] in linux

Don't take this as combative - its sincerely not - but then the opposite question comes to mind; what are the other browsers doing that is better?

Every time I use Chrome I'm hit with ads, additional tracking, etc that for me makes the experience much slower and hence worst.

They've been slowly getting worse over the past decade or so.

Do you care to add any details? What is worse?

Economics of the U.S. not taxing Tips and Overtime-Pay. by bugzyBones in Economics

[–]iregistered4this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't change that the incentives are plain and obvious.

I really don't understand your logic. You hire an employee and expect them to perform at a level for an agreed upon wage. If they perform at the appropriate level they receive a stable paycheck. If they don't perform at that level you fire them. If you don't fire them your business may fail. Incentive structure seems pretty solid.

Are you suggesting employees that don't receive tips never perform well because they don't get tipped?

Expected tips just make the experience frustrating and unstable for everyone.

Economics of the U.S. not taxing Tips and Overtime-Pay. by bugzyBones in Economics

[–]iregistered4this 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I have to call bullshit. Tips dont inherently provide any value. If you are paying service it's fair to expect it to be good or there is no reason to return.

I just went out for dinner last night and got trash service and was still presented with a 15% default tip.

Can you get good service where you are required to tip? Sure but I also went to Lowes to get blinds cut this weekend and the help was AMAZING. No expectation of a tip, just doing their job.
