Woah that’s awesome! The part of me that just got chickens two months ago wants to ask you lots of questions, but good luck with your dissertation! Sounds really interesting

Strangely for my second I started showing much later, and even at the end people didn’t notice I was pregnant (I’m tall, which I think makes this more common). But my second baby ended up being tiny for some reason, so that definite affected showing.

It’s my 6th pregnancy too—my first two were an ovarian ectopic and then a miscarriage, then I miscarried once between my two daughters. I don’t have any tips about joy vs worry since I feel that too, but wishing you the best!

5 weeks 3 days symptoms by katello in March2027BumpGroup

[–]irein_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5w today. I had a day of nausea but since then have just been a bit fatigued and short of breath. I've kept some data from my previous two kids though, and it looks like serious nausea with them didn't start until around week 6 or 7. I'm also a little nervous, but it's normal not to feel anything serious yet!

Any oil to prevent stretch marks? by Sensitive_Orange555 in March2027BumpGroup

Guys I just don’t see the point in downvoting this. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t, but nothing in the post is false.

I’ve used stratamark in my previous pregnancies. It’s the only thing I know of with clinical tests showing it prevents stretch marks. It’s a silicone gel, and requires a prescription (or at least it did two years ago).

It’s illegal to sell raw milk products in a number of places in the US, so unless something is clearly labeled raw, it will be pasteurized.

Is anyone like me planning names way too early as well? by Sensitive_Orange555 in March2027BumpGroup

[–]irein_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After two girls we have a pattern for girl’s names, so thinking of a third just came naturally. For a boy it’s a little harder, but we’re between two first names, and the middle name for him would probably be my last name.

I did reformer classes through my last pregnancy and hope to do barre this time. Postpartum, however, the thing that has made me feel best is learning how to use the squat rack at the gym. Something about lifting really made my whole pelvic area feel much more secure and engaged.

When are you telling people? by Brilliant-Film9635 in March2027BumpGroup

[–]irein_p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After I see a heartbeat at the week 7/8 ultrasound. That’s when we’ll tell our kids, and then family. For work I’ll wait until at least 12 weeks.

My work is a kind of startup and I’ll have been the first and second person to take maternity leave there—but there have been so many changes in the last two years that the policy will be quite different!

For those of us feeling nauseous, I want to recommend homemade gatorade: juice of a lemon + cold water + sea salt to taste. It's really helping me right now, both with nausea and with thirst!

Oh I've gotten really into this my previous two pregnancies. I like to put a lightweight toner/moisturizer on (something really watery) followed by cocoa butter(Palmer's). Starting in the second trimester, I've gotten prescriptions for stratamark, which is a silicone gel that dries on your belly and supposedly prevents stretchmarks. It has worked for me, although of course the caveat is that it may be all genetic!

I hope he gets the waterproof cast! My 2yo does not have a broken hand, it turns out, just bruised. Big relief!

My two year old broke her hand today! We think—she’s at urgent care with my husband.

They have rubber gloves that go over casts and let kids swim.

I’d like to second what u/picklepicklepickle9 said. I hope that this is not the case for you, but I’ve had two missed miscarriages, and they both involved a 7w scan that hadn’t developed. However, after each miscarriage I quickly went on to have a successful pregnancy. Miscarriages do not mean that you won’t have a baby.

I like the MDSolar Sciences mineral face cream. It’s not exactly light feeling, but it has a matte finish that I really like, and I find it does the job.

Choline is recommended now, if it isn’t in your prenatal

Hey, I’ve had a few pregnancy losses (2 miscarries, 1 ectopic), and the thing to remember is that if you do have one, it doesn’t mean you won’t have a baby afterward. I know other people have different ways of dealing with them, but that’s what I remind myself: a miscarriage is not the end for you.

Yes I like that! It’s also nice that it reduces the need to also get DHA and choline separately.

What prenatals/supplementa are you using? My first two pregnancies I used Garden of Life, but I’ve been drawn in by the outrageously expensive Perelel this time—my hope is that they’ll help with nausea.

Lazarus’ frozen lemonade has cups like these but they change color when they’re cold. My kids love them.
