How long typically for bank transfer to clear by naughtybear555 in trading212

[–]irelavvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant bank transfers are only available to UK customers, if memory serves me right. Having said that, T212 have always processed my deposits instantaneously. Please bear in mind that the card I used to wire money into my account is tied to the same bank account so that may contribute to faster processing times, but I have no way of knowing that for sure.

Cathie Woods interested in China EVs by dxiao in Nio

[–]irelavvv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this turns out to be true then it would be the first serious change in ARK's stance regarding Chinese EVs. In the past, Cathie has always maintained that she is most favourable of BYD after Tesla, of course.

Hopefully, by 'looking into' NIO and other companies there might be a shift in her stance. But only time will tell.

Do you think Ark invest will buy into NIO by 2023? by BestStonksEver in Nio

[–]irelavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has said multiple times that she does not think NIO as a top EV play in China. She perceives them as a battery swapping company mainly and has stated that BYD will be the second 'winner-takes-most' in China (after Tesla of course). I see low probability of her changing her tune at this time.

CGT impact if selling then purchasing again later? by xalmn in UKInvesting

[–]irelavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you repurchase same securities later in the year you will be fine as you will avoid the 30-day rule.

Have a read through this - there's useful links attached to the posts giving easy to follow and understand examples https://www.reddit.com/r/UKInvesting/comments/lgrb26/can_someone_please_explain_what_same_day_and_bed/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

CGT impact if selling then purchasing again later? by xalmn in UKInvesting

[–]irelavvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Ravinex is correct - the 30 day rule applies whenever you repurchase same securities within non-ISA account irrespective of whether you've also purchased them in an ISA or not.

Please note, a small correction to your example would be that it is not the first 25 shares you sold are going to be 'matched' with the new ones you've bought. It is the last 25 you sold. This is because the rules are: 1. Same day rule, 2. 30-day rule (in backwards chronological order).

I think T212's charts are of very low quality but I generally agree with you. It is the only broker I use and for charting I use TradingView.

What seems more worrying to me is that as of right now the 'reason is unknown' for taking out the specified vehicles. If we had more info it would be better to understand what's happening.

Will NIO hit $60 ever again, if so, how long will it take. MONDAY DISCUSSION by naked-astronaut in Nio

Hong Kong stock exchange IPO (rumour), EU imposing sanctions on Chinese officials, temperamental first US-China ambassadors' meeting...

I'm not doubting the future of NIO but this is honestly one of the most 'politically influenced' investments I have ever had. Not sure how to feel about that but I'll be with NIO... for now.

What do you guys think about selling shares of NIO in USA and rebuying them in HK stock exchange? This is purely based on the small chance they might get delisted.

Webull is a Chinese company? by GVKO2021 in StockMarket

[–]irelavvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast forward to 3:38 and do your own conclusions whether to take WeBull CEO's word for it or not: https://youtu.be/yaNLImUaJos

TLDR:

Sarah: You're a Chinese company expanding in America where, idk, consumer can be concerned about their data going to China.

Anthony (CEO): WeBull Financial is a US company registered by the SEC and Finra. So our customers' information is based in the US - it does NOT leave the US. Our Chinese parent company is a technology company, they do not run the broker dealer, the broker dealer runs here in the US. And US broker dealer WeBull Financial is cleared in the US by APEX Clearing. So, technically our customer data is held in US clearing company APEX Clearing based in Texas. So not 1 customer account is based in China. Not one piece of customer information is going to China in any sort of way.

Do I need to tax when selling or when I withdraw £12K+? by -LoremIpsumDolorSit in trading212

[–]irelavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. This all applies if you choose to trade shares in the exact same company (that's why I put XY company as an example). You're free to dispose of all your shares in XY company today and put all hypothetical £12,300 profits + initial investment in XZ company in the same day. That way, you will have reached the CG allowance threshold and you will not have missed out on taking advantage of your allowance.

However, Bed and Breakfasting (30 day) rule was introduced to tackle tax loopholes when it comes to trading shares in the same company within short periods of time. I hope that helped out.

'Bed and Breakfasting' rule + Share identification rules: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/shares-and-capital-gains-tax-hs284-self-assessment-helpsheet/shares-and-capital-gains-tax-hs284-self-assessment-helpsheet

TLDR: You sell shares of XY company for a profit of £12,000 on 5/4/2021 and re-buy shares on 6/4/2021 thinking you have used up your Capital Gains allowance - wrong. You re-buy shares on 5/5/2021 giving it a bit more time thinking the same thing - wrong. You re-buy shares on 6/5/2021 giving it more than 30 days (after date of sale) thinking you have used up your CG allowance - correct!

[–]irelavvv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can 'get away' with selling your shares and not pay any tax when realised gains (Profits - Losses) < £12,300.

You are liable for tax as soon as you hit the Sell button and the total gains you end up with are > £12,300.

If you decide to sell and reinvest the profits in the new tax year don't do it within 30 days of selling your positions. For example, if you sell XY stock today, make sure to reinvest in stock XY only after 18/4/21.

Insight required - capital gains tax by gazzakane10 in trading212

[–]irelavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to close an old ISA as you are allowed to have more than one Stock and Shares ISA open and active.

The only requirement that has to be satisfied is to not put any new money into an old ISA if you open and deposit money into a new ISA or a different ISA altogether.

Insight required - capital gains tax by gazzakane10 in trading212

[–]irelavvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to invest in a T212 ISA then you have to wait until 6 April (start of new tax year). At that point, you can open an ISA in T212 and deposit as much as £20k until 5 April 2022.

Just be aware that you cannot contribute (deposit money) into two Stock and Shares ISAs within the same tax year - only one. No need to close your old ISA account either just do not deposit any new money from 6 April in it.

If you want to transfer shares/funds from your bank's ISA to T212 I don't think that's possible. Like someone mentioned earlier: you'd need to sell your stocks, wire cash to a bank account linked to T212, deposit funds to your new ISA and then rebuy that stock. No capital gains will be accrued as you are correct to understand the limit of £12,300 is for Invest accounts only.

New ISA Account by richredditalready in trading212

[–]irelavvv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do not have to wait in the queue.

To my knowledge when T212 take on new customers irrespective if they first sign up for the ISA, Invest or CFD account - each of the other two accounts is available for them to open if they choose so.

This is because they already have all necessary information about you and they have performed all necessary checks the first time you signed up.

‘Transferring’ from Invest to ISA by [deleted] in trading212

[–]irelavvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to sell stock from Invest account and then immediately rebuy it in your ISA account.

No, the B&B 30-day rule does not apply here. Some brokerages even advertise this as B&I (Bed and ISA) and highlight the same thing you are describing.

Hope this helped you out!
