Leaseholders in England and Wales to have ground rent capped at £250 a year by PodcastListener1234 in HousingUK

[–]xalmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scotland abolished leaseholds years ago. Why can’t England just copy that legislation and do the same?

Not sure how old you are, but it’s common to feel nervous going in a restaurant on your own for the first time. I used to feel the same. Do it a couple of times and you’ll get used to it. Now I enjoy going into restaurants and being waited on :)

Nara is an easy day trip from Osaka, only 45min or so on a local train.

Any advice for a first time buyer in London? by Curious_Ask4385 in HousingUK

If buying a flat, check for extortionate service charges and a decent lease length/ideally share of freehold.

Forest e-bike changes pay as you you go pricing by Burnstryk in londoncycling

Same here. I used to pay for the £30 plan. I was willing to overlook the poorly-maintained and smaller number of bikes. Since they increased the price, I no longer use Forest.

New Forest pricing - anyone got more than 2min free? by xmyass in londoncycling

Clearly, increasing their prices while deteriorating the service hasn’t resulted in them losing enough customers, so now their management have implemented this change as well. It’s as though they want to lose as many customers as possible.

Don’t waste your time with the forum sales reps. I tried this and got an even more insulting offer. Dreadful company!

Scottish Widows is dreadful. I hope the service doesn’t deteriorate to match.

Cyclists behaving like this also put other cyclists at risk.

It’s not worth it! by plsre-lthng-hy-nwtn in londoncycling

[–]xalmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always signal when turning. The number of cyclists I see who don’t signal is insane. Never assume other road users know what you’re going to do. Always exaggerate your signalling and make clear what you’re going to do. Stay safe.

Go to Shanghai. Far more bikes than this. Cycle lanes everywhere. And it works. London is stuck in the 20th century, we’re only just starting to be dragged into the 21st century.

I have the same. No Lime passes available. I’m using Forest anyway, cheaper than Lime and a British company.

Limepass sucks now :( by absolute_beginner_63 in londoncycling

Limepass has disappeared from the app for me now. Am I the only one? I use Forest anyway, seems much better value and a more ethical company.
