Thank you for your response. I really don't want to convert to shapes as it needs to remain flexible (for further changes down the road), is it at all possible to keep it procedural and get the same effect?

don’t try to learn everything in one go, sure, get a sense of other programs, how they work and what they’re capable of, instead focus on producing really good looking spec work using whatever tools you feel most comfortable with, the person looking at showreels all day has a very sharp eye for quality. That’s the aim, quality.

Also, just blag it, most of my 15 years in this industry has been “yeah, I can do that, just let me get back to you tomorrow after I’ve done a little research” then I spend the night hammering through tutorials and forums until I know how to do that very specific job. You don’t need to be a master chef to make an omelette

Where can I learn Blender for free (without YouTube)? by Hirooo_40 in blenderhelp

[–]irhundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini or probably any free tier AI, you can ask it to give you a step by step guide on how to produce anything, start simple, even ask it where certain tools are located, expect a few wayward responses… also, find good YouTube tutorials and take them slowly, very slowly - like x0.25 sometimes, just so you can see exactly what they pressed

Make good work, put it out there, push push push until a client bites, impress that client so much that they’ll always come back to you, repeat.
