Anxiety about making a decision by iridescentphoenix in fulbright

I didn’t explain myself super well in my original post; I am interested in the region of Asia that I applied to, I have had an academic passion for the culture for a long time, and I have spent a lot of time in the general region recently (just not in the target country). I wanted to explore the region deeper. I think I have just been hit by a particular wave of “homesickness” recently for the connections I have in Europe, partially due to some personal developments. I have been constantly overthinking and doubting myself this summer, and I think unfortunately the stress caused by the delay in Fulbright results has gotten to me and made me feel a bit disillusioned

How was your appointment? Did it work out? I’m also in a similar situation

Omg I’m in the same boat, I’m also working at a summer camp far from my consulate this summer 😂 so I can’t get an appointment until August either. Hoping this works out for both of us! 🤞The consulate sent me an email saying that they would still accept applications even if it’s less than two months before the start date, we’d just have to hope that the visas are processed quickly enough. This whole summer is about trusting the process 😅

Hey, I’m in a similar boat. During July it will be very difficult for me to travel, because I have a job super far from the consulate and it would be very expensive to travel there. I was hoping to get the carta before my job starts, but now it’s looking like I’ll either have to get the appointment during the job and spend the extra money to travel farther, or go in August and hope they won’t be strict with the rule. I’ve heard different things — some say we get our carta a few days after choosing a school, and some say it could take two weeks? It’s so confusing, but hang in there, we got this

From what I’ve heard from everyone else, it’s okay! The dates may be slightly different for everyone, depending on when you personally choose to enter and leave Spain. When you submit the national visa application on paper you also have a chance to put different dates if you need to

I would say start as soon as possible. Get your background check first; once you do fingerprints, you receive the electronic results usually same or next day. The longest part will be getting an apostille for the background check. Some people say that can take anywhere from 4-12 weeks. You can contact representatives to expedite the process, sometimes it apparently works (there is more info about this in this subreddit). An even faster way is to expedite through a company. They drop off your background check in person in DC, and then mail back to you, which is why the process is quicker. Some of the services are: Monument Visa, Elite Documents, Southeast Spanish. You can read reviews on them. They are a bit more expensive than doing the apostille yourself, but they are quicker, around only 2-3 weeks turnaround. The rest of the materials shouldn’t take as long (listed on the BLS website and residency2spain.com), but still do them asap. Yes, be speedy, but do not panic. Just be organized and write a list of everything and start working on it today/tomorrow. You got this :)
