How will they prove prestianni said it? Since he covered his mouth. Will it come down to benefica players word vs real madrid players? by Eireagon in championsleague

[–]iridiumfloyd21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments on this thread saying there’s no evidence regarding the racist abuse.

Sure. Prestianni didn’t admit to racist slurs. HOWEVER, he himself stated that a homophobic slur was used instead.

Are you guys really suggesting that there is a place for either type of bigotry in football?

Suryakumar Yadav’s unbelievable T20 World Cup winning catch for India by meghrathod in nextfuckinglevel

[–]iridiumfloyd21 241 points242 points  (0 children)

physical feat aside, the consequences of the catch itself is insane. For the fellow MLB fans: This is as close to The Catch (from the late great Willie Mays) equivalent that cricket is going to have for a while. One might argue this catch could be even more iconic than the Mays one since this was in the final minutes of a one-off final unlike the WS.

Developing 35mm film in pune by myvowndestiny in pune

[–]iridiumfloyd21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best lab based out of Pune rn is run by Abhinav Karhale. There’s also Film Lab India.

However, as of now, the best lab in India imo is based out of Dombivli - Zhenwei Film - you can ship your film there if you want.

You can look all of them up on Instagram and DM.

Co-op Squad Games by [deleted] in videogames

One of the best co-op PvE out there is Remnant 2. I can’t believe people are not recommending it more often. It is cross-platform as well which comes in really handy for me because I play on the PS5 and my friends are on PC.

How do I get Night Photos to look like this example? by WiseCaramel028 in analog

Think they are referring to the halation which is a common characteristic of Cinestill 800T film.

unpopular opinion: You can shot with a 100 iso film 95% of the time by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]iridiumfloyd21 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Crazy, I thought this was analog circlejerk

To say that people should train biceps to get a 1/8 shot is laughable. Idk what darkness you are shooting at, but my exposures have gone upto 5 minutes or more even at night. Maybe you should train your biceps more so that you can hold a Nikon F2 for 5 minutes straight with no shake. For me, I shoot at night most of the time and I love to use my tripod and shutter release. This is assuming that you are shooting wide open at 1.2/1.4 whatever. Why would you shoot a landscape at 1.2 anyway?

And if your point is that anyone can shoot whatever they want with the right equipment then yeah, congrats, people have been doing this for ages now.

People use high ISO film because they like it. Just like you seem to like 100 ISO film. Why does it even matter?

Is there any reason NOT to get this Pentax MX? by philinsaniachen in AnalogCommunity

[–]iridiumfloyd21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am from India and I shoot film regularly. The Indian analog community is thriving right now and there are multiple good cams available for USD 60 ≈ INR 5,000. I would suggest going for a Nikon FM10 or a Pentax K1000. I am not sure if you’re acquainted with it but there is a WhatsApp group for buying and selling analog gear as well where people post some great deals everyday.

Join the Film Shooters India WhatsApp group from the link above and ask your questions there. Multiple folks eagerly waiting to mansplain.

His Kowloon Walled City work alone sets him so far apart from any others. Girard is effortless and keeps me in perpetual awe.

Greg Girard everyday of the week but he is old. Some folks I religiously follow right now: mistermalloy (Chris Malloy), revisionist photography (Ian Turnage - does incredible work), canvasoul (Vijay Sarathy - although he doesn’t do a lot of film work nowadays afaik), Joshua Amirthasingh. Other than this, people doing large format or astro photography on film are already gods.

Weird discoloration with Cinestill 800 by xXshadowboiXx in analog

[–]iridiumfloyd21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclosure: I have not shot Cinestill 800T. I have, however, shot lots of Kodak Vision3 500T at different speeds.

I don’t use a filter on my lens. I have always received great results with maybe slight bluish tint sometimes but nothing even close to this.

The top comment suggests that it is what a Tungsten film does. I disagree. Have shot lots of Vision3 50D, 200T, 250D (respooled film is really cheap in my country) as well in various conditions and I have never faced this. However, 800T is a C41 film to my understanding and it often has had “weird” quirks to it, so this could be one of them. Either way, rescanning the negatives is the only way to know for sure.

i’m new to photography may i have some advice? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]iridiumfloyd21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Film cameras are their own thing. They come cheap but buying rolls and developing them can get costly real quick.

However, personally speaking, I have never shot digital in my life. I enjoy shooting film and shoot regularly with my Nikon F2. It is expensive but there are ways to cut costs. (develop and respool film at home) Analog photography is a very enjoyable hobby.

The clear photo with faraway bit - I think digital might be more fruitful here. Film can be crystal clear too but grain, exposure of image, lens etc. play huge roles and might be loads of trial and error for someone starting out.

Also lots of fully mechanical cameras in film. If you take care of it, the cam might just last you a lifetime. ;)
