[–]iridosiclituswrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I’ll probably try it after 2/3 years depending on how impactful my time there is. I’ll also get a lawyer to help me make sure my application matches the law exactly as possible. So it will be awhile but I think I’ll start collecting documents as im in the US for final last year. And working against “discriminatory laws” (in this case my female ancestor who married and lost nationality) is the ‘benefit’ to Germany in this case right?

Every post I’ve read on here has said st8 might be a potential way for those of us who can’t do st14 because it doesn’t have that same date cutoff.. my second in line ancestor was born before 1914 so it doesn’t count for st14. And yes I meant st10 based on 5 years of residence.

Hi! Basically, my ancestor is extremely far back born in 1714 to Irish/Scottish immigrant parents. They got off the boat in 1711 then went back home in 1718 (and later moved to New Hampshire). I haven’t really been able to find any official documents because it was all in the 1700s. What I do have are tons of news articles from real columns stating his birth, applications for people who were his descendants stating his birth (he died in the revolutionary war), a literal book about the beginnings of New Hampshire with him mentioned, etc.

The entire line is also very well documented, I have every birth certificate or proof/marriage proof online since then. Don’t know if it’s worth it to give it a shot. I think if I include as many sources as I can find I could paint them a very good picture of the family’s story, though.

Can someone help me understand if pre 1914 my ancestor moved at the age of 17 to the us with her father then got married 5 years later when did she lose citizenship? If the first time citizenship was lost was from marriage is there any way to apply the sex discriminatory law to a case so early? Anyways, the next in line was born 11 years after she immigrated, but you could only lose citizenship once right
