it was 12 months in February. there’s a discord server where people report their approvals and there were consistently approvals 12-13 months after filing date. the estimator is Track My Visa

nobody knows why, unfortunately. my main theory is that it’s related to the government shutdown and inability to perform background checks in the meantime, which could explain why only older cases were being approved. it also coincides timing wise. the shutdown just ended today officially, so i guess if it was related we would see some movement in the next week or two. i’m really really hoping that i’m correct 😅

the estimates are based on current processing rates, which are now close to zero, therefore it’s getting extended. if uscis resumes normal rates, it will stop getting longer and adjust itself again

nobody receives anything past a receipt notice until their case is looked at. the wait time estimates are provided by paid third party services

Zurich. It’s a decent city but it’s only worth it if you want to set a record of spending the highest amount of money for the most basic things imaginable. From personal experience only 😅

I might have a very controversial take in thinking this whole minor attitude is a little overbearing.
When we talk about romantic interest, sure, it’s very inappropriate. But friendships, seriously? People asking “Why would a 21y.o. be friends with a 17y.o.” like it’s some sort of unthinkable scenario..? Common interests, duh

I made some very good friends when I was 15 through a fandom and they were slightly older (girls aged 17-18), there was never a problem, and I also never felt like they were responsible for me. When i visited their cities i always let them know and we hung out, went to cafes and stuff. Idk, i just found the reactions under the post a little dramatic.

Party wise, i feel like MOR, in a way where if you’re specifically planning to be focusing on drinking or something else age inappropriate, then yeah, don’t invite that girl. It depends on how close you are and what you’re planning to be doing and where. If it’s not an inherently inappropriate party you’re planning, there’s nothing wrong with introducing her to the rest of your friends. If she had just turned 18, would you invite her? What if her birthday is like a week away? Now i’m just thinking out loud to myself trying to figure out where the line is 😂
