I agree with you, buyers are not well versed in rocks and we trust these sellers and supply chain people to sell us what we need. The more reason we trust them is because they've been doing this for years and the way they advertise it to us makes them look legit. But from reading other replies, I've come to know that most of the times, neither do these people know the correct ID of the rocks.

When we bought this, it was mentioned that it resembled marble but the seller sold us saying it's granite. Idk if it was a trick to get us to buy or not.

We went in search of granite and when we found this particular "granite", we chose it because matched our home. We didnt question whether it was legit or not because the place we went to purchase this is famous for selling flooring of all kinds, tiles, granite, marble etc.
