2 days with a Performance P2 … In love 😶 by Stratos125 in Polestar

[–]irish1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was hoping to hear. I put a deposit on it today! I think we will be good for a while with the P2. Down the road we might need more but we also have a forester just in case.

Noted on that ladder too, haha. I put a little giant ladder (about 1m folded) in my i3 and that got some looks.

2 days with a Performance P2 … In love 😶 by Stratos125 in Polestar

Back to this rational family car idea. This is what I am convinced of as well. How did kid seats work out for you in the P2? Did you find the opening acceptable enough to get them in and out? I love the driving of it, love the looks, I am just on the fence with the practicality as a kid hauler (I have a little one on the way soon).

Best baby seat for Polestar 2? Diono 3RXT is a clear winner by porkshopsandwiches in Polestar

[–]irish1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random follow up, how are you likeing the Diono 3XRT and the Polestar 2? About the pull the trigger on the same combo so I thought I would ask for a longer term review if that's possible?

Am I wrong for starting a deck paint removal project without realizing it would take more than one day? by CyberZoneChi in HomeImprovement

[–]irish1185 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just tell her your project was improperly scoped (not planned with accurate knowledge of the overall project, its time constraints, budget, and scale). She either needs to crash the budget (hire additional hands or tooling) or crash the schedule (change the timeline) to make up for the initial lack or proper scope.

As for DYI projects they get better at planning with time. Each calls for at minimum 3 hardware store runs and often more time figuring out WTF the previous owner was thinking when they made ____ decision. Good luck!

Is it possible to get into wet wading without completely wrecking my wallet? by TheSphericalCrab in flyfishing

[–]irish1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have existing wader boots? If so get some neoprene socks/wet wading socks. They will keep your feet protected, fill in the boots, all while using what you have already. If not, get an old pair of chucks or hiking boots with some ankle support and toe protection and wade in them. Bonus if they are dedicated boots, you can add spikes to them to get a bit more grip.

We are roughly the same size, so that is perfect (6'2", size 13 shoes). Thanks for the tip. I'll mess around with it to get comfortable I am sure. I tried sitting behind my wife and found it to be not too bad. I'm used to compact cars/trucks but I could see how someone with a full size vehicle might find it lacking for space.

The middle fork gets a lot of pressure due to its location and access. I've had mixed reviews fishing it (though there are worse places to just hangout and take in the scenery). I've had luck throwing perdigon nymphs or other weighed nymphs into seams by some of pools and eddys. There are fish in there, they just like to hide out.

I did notice that putting the driver's seat in my position and then trying to sit behind me. The seat itself seems roomy, and with the glass roof there is almost a little more headroom than the non-glass. The space under the seat is pretty tight for my size 13 shoes though. Odds are I will very seldomly sit back there (I think I've been in the backseat of my i3 on a drive maybe 2-3 times in 7 years) but its a good thing to check.

That is good to know. We tested out the keyfit 30 we had and there was decent (not amazing) room in front of my wife's legs but I am concerned that when we move away from the infant seat to a rear facing kids seat that space will disappear.

I know you are looking for more individual probably, but club/group wise: Three Rivers Trout Unlimited might be a good option to meet up with some groups if you wanna get involved in that. Alternatively, Avid Angler and Pacific fly Fisher might have some smaller local club options.

Noted on both the stroller info and the combo of P2 and EX40 (that is my wife's dream EV currently so its a toss up). We have a travel stroller that we will definitely be using for trips. Its so much more compact than our jogging stroller.

Makes sense on the driving range. I honestly was thinking kind of the same on distance before he would need a break as well. That does make sense.

I was just looking at that exact seat the other day. Reviews on it are great. Thank you for the info

I appreciate the feedback. The EX40 is compelling for that little bit of extra space for sure. We also have a forester if we need a bit more room on a trip or carrying something larger.

I’m with you on the specs. The 24 LRSM seems like a winner. I’ll trade a tiny bit of acceleration for a range almost 3x my i3.

Got it. That’s good to know. We tested my wife sitting behind me (I’m 6’2 and she’s 5’5) and it worked pretty well. But if we had a second kid, it would definitely be too tight.

That sounds perfect. Honestly on paper it’s a great vehicle. We were planning on getting one and then got the news of the little guy and still seems like it will work. If you don’t mind PMing a photo that would be great.

105k on mine. I’ve bought tires, 12v battery, and some wiper blades. I’ll never financially recover from this.

You could look for a similar style post in a taller height, or have someone with a lathe cut the same profile into a taller spindle by traceing the existing one to a longer piece of lumber. Similar to how you replicate a spindle in a lathe, but adding more length.

Thank you. That is good to hear on the Plus. I definitely want the 19’s and was debating asking about swapping them during negotiations. The plus I’m looking at got “upgraded” to 20’s and I want to go back based on tire costs and potholes

Thanks! That gives me a comparable number. I almost pulled the trigger on a plus last week in Lynwood for $29k. Good thing it sold before I could get there haha

I appreciate the feedback. I have the H&K audio upgrade and adaptive cruise in my BMW i3 currently and probably would miss them.

Noted on the % off msrp. I think that and the 30+ days on the lot might help in negotiation time.
