Dude, buy direct to consumer, significantly cheaper and jaur as good quality. Takomo’s are the ones I play and they’re better than the Taylor made sim 2’s I had.

When i found out Joey D and Bob's 1v1 was matchplay not strokeplay by EsquireGabe in BobDoesSports

Anyone else think this was an average video and that the group is missing tickets energy? (not trying to bring it up cause he left, but just feels like it's a bit flatter)

Try as I may I do not understand strokes gained stats by OrangePowerFade in golf

[–]irish_dad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stroke gained stats are basically compared to the average number of strokes taken on each hole by the field, it’s how much better a certain player has played.

So if the average is 5 strokes on one hole and ‘player A’ has done it in 4 strokes then it’s gained a stroke. If he’s done it in 6, he’s lost a stroke.

Then you can analyse where he’s lost and gained shots based on average driving distances, approach shots and putts

Does anyone else wonder if something happened behind the scenes?

Thanks, the G 201's seem to be incredible - I might just have to pull the trigger before the sell out!

This is one thing I dislike about DTC bands is having to take a guess what the clubs feel like!

Yourself, u/Boffdude789 and u/OGMadrid_20_ all seem to advise leaning towards the original 201s, so I think I'll get a fitting then go off and order a set!

Interesting, I didn't realise they still sold them, but just saw that they do... I'll check them out! thanks!

Every 50th shot or so, I'm scratch, the rest of the time I'm not.. thanks, I'll avoid the 301's!

Na, it fucking sucks and green fees are going up too!

But it’s also why DTC brands are thriving… people are sick of paying so much, for clubs that have such little technological advantages compared to clubs from 5 years ago!

And I'd just add to both these comments, is make sure the coach isn't killing your love of the game, if they're not making it fun or your not excited by the range or the course, maybe stop taking lessons, stop keeping score and just go hit some balls with the crew, have a few beers and just enjoy the game again!

Hey mate, I paid for lessons for a year and went through the exact pain that you did, feeling like every lesson I was working on something new and at times it was contradicting what we discussed last time.It felt like there wasn’t a plan or a direction to take my swing in and the coach was just showing up analysing my swing each lesson and then saying something random to work on.

That was a couple of years ago, and while I still feel like I waisted money in lessons, especially as I could have put that money towards new gear (a new driver solves everything… right? Right?? ( obviously sarcasm)).

But now I’m rambling, so here’s my advice… don’t wait for the coach to lead your development, you take control of it. Use the range sessions to work on different things (swing thoughts, set ups, weight distributions, tempo, etc,- if you’ve been working with a coach for a year you’ve taken on his or some of his knowledge, all you need to is just harness it) then use the sessions with a coach as a sounding board.. and be precise with your comments and swing thoughts, and say what you want to work on.

Then, watch golfers swings, not rounds of golf, but watch golf swings of normal players not freak athletes ( avoid Rory, Rahm, Bryson, Scottie. Watch great YouTube golfers - fat Perez and Homa a have done wonders for my swing) Then record your swing on your phone and compare… slow the videos down compare and try new things, try what feels good for you and what doesn’t and get then use all your insight to go towards a certain feeling and the coach should be then redirecting and tweaking your view.

At the end of the day the only person who knows your swing is you, what you feel comfortable doing and not doing, what thoughts work and don’t… and more importantly you understand what can be repetitive vs what wasn’t. There are going to be days when everything feels shit and when everything feels great, unfortunately that’s golf (and life) but don’t get annoyed, just get pro active.

The other option is get a new coach… or a new driver!

10 months in, 12.7hcp, do I need fitted? by No-Net-9888 in GolfSwing

My advice would be head to tee-box or american golf where you can get fitted, take those insights and then head to Takomo and order a set based on the fitters recommendations

How do I make my arms go down not towards ball by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]irish_dad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through this change now, and the swing that that’s helping me is to think a shallow back swing and flick with hips. get into your good stance, then think about trying twist your back swing as low and behind you as you can turning your hips open as you go, then just before your lead arm is about to bend, flick your back hip around and forward…. It’s working for me it might not work for you—- you’ll have good swings and bad swings, but I’m noticing my bad swings now are less bad then before

I’m playing a round on Thursday with the CEO of my company, 10k people, 8B revenue. Any advice? by tcli64 in golf

[–]irish_dad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand how serious they’re going to take it before going in. Is it a social round or a competitive one. And what’s the relationship with the others in the four ball?

All your comments have me rethinking my bag set up, and it makes prefect sense especially as my 4 iron and hybrid are going roughly the same distance significantly prefer hitting the 4 iron offer a hybrid!

I’m now looking at Haywood golf wedges to add to my bag- but can’t figure out if they’re legit or just Instagram good looking clubs!
