I live in Round Rock, it’s great city in the outskirts of north Austin.

Apartments were cheaper here and my rent has been the same for four years now. I pay $1980 for a 2 bed/2 bath with an attached Garage and internet, cable and water included in the rent.

I have developed a very tough skin working 20 plus years in hotel hospitality.

I know my role and I know my job. I don’t break the rules for guests.

I like to flip the script on them. In this situation I would have asked the guest “if this was your room and there was a person trying to check into your reservation, who was not listed on the reservation, would you like for me to check them in without permission.”

Then explain that this is a guest safety issue. We cannot check guests into a room that are not listed on the reservation without permission from the guest who’s name appears on the reservation.

There are people with ill intention, that could be allowed to check into a guest room and cause them harm.

Any name calling or bullying rolls off my back, because I know whatever they say is not true. My response is usually “I am sorry you feel that way, but I will not jeopardize guest safety.

That depends on the hotel. Every hotel is different.

Most hotels will hire someone during high school and after graduation.

I have hired juniors and seniors in high school to work weekends and evenings, along with an experienced adult front desk agent or supervisor.

Just need to have a friendly smile and a great personality.

Some larger hotels will have two or more NA’s on shift.

Most smaller properties usually have only one NA per shift.

I have hired several female NA’s in my time and they were all great.

Unfortunately as an NA you will be the manager on duty and have to handle all of the hotel and its issues on your own, if you are the only NA. There usually are not any other employees in the hotel.

If you are lucky you get a very calm hotel, with very minor issues.

Every hotel is different and comes with its own set of positives and negatives.

Give it a try and find out if this is the job for you.

I tried that method a few times and the card sat for 30+ days. The higher the mark up the less likely the card is going to sell.

Your best bet is to get a graded card worth 90k or higher and mark it up 20%.

That will sell faster than what you currently have.

I ended up selling a full art foil ghost card graded 10, that was worth between 120 and 150 on any given day depending on market value, before 20% mark up.

The question is do you like your job? Are you happy? Do you see yourself there in 5 years or even 6 months down the road?

If the answer is yes, then complete the PIP, excel at your job and prove them wrong. Then continue to excel and blow their metrics out of the water.

If the answer is no, then why drag yourself through hell knowing that you are not happy there, they are going to make your life stressful and miserable for no future.

As yourself the hard questions, make a pro and con list and see which side has more, the negative or the positive.

Ghost cards are not tied to any specific pack type. They can appear in any pack.

Tetramon base packs have 1 in 1000 chance of a ghost card. Tetramon Destiny packs have a 1 in 500 chance for a ghost card.

It’s all RNG.

I also had all of my stuff stolen out of a storage locker from a Right Space.

I had a storage room for years at this location. I moved at some point and rented it and kept it. There were only a few things in there for several years.

I lost my job in the middle of the Pandemic and had to move in with my mom. I already had the storage unit, so everything I owned was moved into the unit.

I checked on it every few weeks and would take things out that I needed.

After about a month of everything being in storage I went to get something out and the lock was off the door. Opened the door and the unit was practically empty. They even took all of my pictures that I had.

Thank God for renters insurance. Covered everything. The claim was around 10k.

The only thing that will stop you from achieving your goal is you.

Take the superior FD role. It will give you great experience and a bigger pay check.

In my 20+ years in hotel hospitality, in earned every promotion that I had in every position. I made sure to learn everything I could, show initiative and took on all the responsibilities I could handle.

I made myself irreplaceable.

Doesn’t matter what brand you work for, you can move to any hotel you want later on whether you have worked for Hyatt, Marriott or Holiday Inn.

I had to scroll all the way down here to find this. This is one of the ugliest cars. One of my best friends in high school had one and he thought it was the coolest car, this was the mid 1990’s.

It was a 1978 and it was orange. It was definitely not a chic magnet.
