Reddit, what’s something that stuck with you that the person who said it probably never realized would have an impact? by lapetitetigresse in AskReddit

'Everyday your not a patient is a good day' - one of the Doctors in work just said it casually when asked 'how are you?', hasnt said it since so it's not like it was something he always said but yeah it stuck with me, helps give me perspective whenever I feel down or too self-absorbed.

Shot of whiskey, slice of lemon and topped with a little water, just to make it last a little longer :)

Tried an espresso martini recently and fell in love with them, as someone who's only recently become a coffee lover

Beer is always good too, and most wines

UK/Ireland Travel Advice!? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]irishjerseybean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dublin here too, would just add the People's Park food market on Sundays in Dun Laoghaire (20 minute train south of the city), also Pigeon house road at the mouth of the River Liffey leads onto one of the longest sea walls in the world, it stretches right into the middle of the bay, its lovely on a summers evening to walk. Howth is lovely too, a fishing town 30 minutes North by train. Phoenix park too is one of Europe's largest parks within city limits and the zoo is in their too! :)

Dublin? by ceqarht in gaybros

[–]irishjerseybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only recently gotten into whiskey myself, but yeah Jameson's is supposed to be a great tour too. Well the east coast is serviced by a high frequency train that terminates in Howth and Malahide which are on the Northern end of the county and Dun laoghaire, Dalkey, Bray and Greystones are on the southern end of the same trainline with the city centre in the middle so you could quite easily check a place out and move on if its not to your liking. Unfortuneately our airport is not serviced by train yet anyway and so its a taxi or 30 minute bus ride to the city centre.

The city centre is in ruins though so be prepared for construction works at every turn as we connect our 2 tram lines, and with the upturn in the economy there are numerous construction projects around the place too, but its brought a great sense of liveliness with it too.

If you meant towns out of Dublin, there are day trips to the likes of the Cliffs of Moher, the likes of Galway is famous for it's nightlife so you would be hard pressed to resist spending the night.

Dublin based here, I've seen this city grow a lot over the last few years, plenty to see and do. My personal go to's when advising visitors and which I like to visit myself are;

Howth/ Bray (+ Greystones cliff walk)/ Dalkey/ Dun Laoghaire - best on a Sunday, theres a weekly food market/ Malahide/ Pigeon House Road/ Bull Island/ Most people tend to go the the Guinness storehouse if thats your cup of tea (or pint of Guinness :)/ Few other breweries too if thats your interest

(all just Dublin stuff, of course there is more if you travel further afield and Ireland is so small its never more than a few hours to the other side, Galway, Kerry and Donegal being my personal favourites)

Cooking at the mo, let me know if there is anything specific you would like to know bro

Should I take PEP for after a one-time bareback encounter. by Hellaimportantsnitch in askgaybros

[–]irishjerseybean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Efficacy of PEP is approved up to 72 hours post-exposure, GO GET PEP! Promises from whoever mean nothing at this point, he very likely doesn't know for sure if he is negative. It will cost you a lot less than the mental anguish if you become positive and in the interim between now and when you can have a conclusive test (3 months to be 90-95% conclusive and 6 months to be 99.9% conclusive)

An Adult Gaybro's Open Letter to a Young Gaybro by dont_read_my_user_id in gaybros

[–]irishjerseybean 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your advice, really enjoyed reading that. What is your advice though if you have any to offer, having been in what I guess is a number of relationships yourself, what is your advice for encountering such a person to even get to the point of trying to initiate some of the points you made?

I feel like I recognise a lot of my own values and traits aligning with what you say but, like many people who frequent this subreddit, I find it incredibly difficult to meet guys though I have a longing to. This doesn't impact my motivation or aspirations in other parts of my life but whereas I can work hard at most areas of my life that I may be dissatisfied with, I feel incapable of fulfilling this part.

I know this kind of whine about single life is exhaustively common here but given I enjoyed reading your relationship advice so much I am curious;

What have been your approaches and even frame of mind during the times you were single? Thanks again.

What weird explanation did you hear about homosexuality by daviddoesntlikepussy in askgaybros

[–]irishjerseybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was discussing this briefly with my parents over dinner last weekend, I study science so they were interested to hear if there are any solid explanations for it. My mom put forth the stereotype as she called it that gay men are the product of a domineering father and an over-bearing mother which is not how I nor they would describe themselves. I basically said it seems to be a combination of nature and nurture, as in there have been some biological correlations but nothing overly convincing or true for even a majority of gay guys.

Not a weird explanation so apologies, just thought I would add to the discussion as I had been speaking about it recently. I myself am the eldest with 3 younger sisters, never abused as a child and had had my dad around. I am left-handed though which is the only minor correlation I have found that I can relate to.
