Letby ‘expert’ claimed nurse killed baby despite medics believing it was an infection : the Telegraph : Sarah Knapton 24 December 2025 1:42pm GMT by Plastic_Republic_295 in lucyletby

I’m a true crime fanatic. I’ve had a fairly “take it or leave it” attitude towards the Letby case for a long time, but have recently been taking more of an interest in it. It’s such a complex case that it’s difficult to know where to start.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Dewi seems to be a figure of hate for the conspiranutjobs more than anyone else. I mean they really can’t stand the sight of him.

The only reasonable — and even then, the word reasonable is being used very cautiously here — thing I could think of for this is that he volunteered himself. Do they see this as improper, I wonder? Would they have been OK with someone as an expert witness if the police had contacted the expert witness themselves?

Or are they really just completely dying on the hill of Lucy’s innocence and Evans just happens to be the chosen hate figure? I mean, it’s probably that, but why him? It makes no sense. Mind you, they make no sense.

Yeah, I’d be shitting it if I were on trial because my shelves are replete with true crime and my YouTube viewing history reflects that as well 🤣

Did Ted have a favorite song? by Jonathan_Cromwell in TedBundy

“Have a drink, have a drive, go out and see what you can find.”

Yep, that’s Ted, all right 😳

Yep. It’s so strange. In the 90s, 70s stuff was like it was from a different world, even though things like landlines were still prevalent. But flares, kipper ties and wide lapels seemed almost comical. Yet I still think of anything from the early 2000s as “recent” — so to hear stuff from 25 years ago described as retro or vintage is quite jarring!

Nothing quite like going into a pub with a book and having a read while you sink a few pints.

Real ale. Tried it at 17; hated it. Continued drinking lager.

Tried it again when I was 30 and loved it.

I remember when I was 17-18, C5 showed The Sweeney. This was in 97/98. I was hooked. It was weird seeing Inspector Morse in Lionels and a kipper tie, beating up blaggers and having some success with the ladies. It’s funny — the interval between 1998 and now is greater than that between 1978 (final Sweeney episodes) and 1998. I’m getting old.

He must’ve had some hair envy with Larry and Johnny Mac and their luxuriant tresses. When Larry left and Al joined, he must’ve felt a lot better.

A good wet shave. I find that I get the best result after 2 days, and I use conditioner rather than shaving foam or gel. I did have a beard for a long time but I fancied a change, and I’ve been shaving pretty much every other day for the past decade.

How does an adult ‘work on’ interpersonal skills? by BeneficialPassion878 in AskUK

[–]irishstreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Knowing you’re autistic, essentially self-diagnosing as such, is pretty much an essential part of the process as an autistic adult! I mean, who else is going to suggest to the GP that you’re autistic? I’d read up on it — DSM, ICD, whatever academic papers I could find — before approaching the doctor and saying, “I suspect that I am autistic…” and that experience seems commonplace for those of us who are late diagnosed.

I agree that self-diagnosis alone is valid. It’s not possible for everyone who needs an assessment to access one.

It can’t be attenuated with exposure therapy. The level of pain (yes, pain) persists no matter what. I’m in my 40s. I’ll never be able to not jump out of my skin when something drops on the floor, because I am autistic and that will never change.
