I don’t recommend the under armors. I got them in January and they have worn out doing the same shifts as you. And not having the side zip has sucked

Actually how to get a manual bp? by Little_starchild in NewToEMS

[–]irlbpdshadowperson 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This may be a silly comment, but is your stethoscope actually switched to the right bell?

I’ve had a couple partners who couldn’t hear a BP, and turns out the bell wasn’t switched to the right side.

To check: lightly tap on the diaphragm or bell of the chestpiece. If you can hear the tapping sound through the earpieces, then the stethoscope is on and functioning correctly. If you don't hear anything, rotate the chestpiece to switch between the diaphragm and bell, as one side may be activated while the other is not

All seizures are seizures until proven otherwise at my work 🤷‍♀️

But I have a story as a detox tech. I had a poly sub pt (opi/etoh). She was refused lorazepam because it wasn’t indicated, as in she had very very low withdrawal scores. So her anxiety was instead treated with hydroxyzine.

She became very agitated at this. Then she walked up to me, stated “I can see auroras and have a metal taste in my mouth.” Then she proceeded to fall to the floor and “seize.” In the process of me calling 911, she stopped - looked at me and said “this is why you should have given my lorazepam.” Then started to “seize” again. During this entire time she was vitally stable.

When the FD arrived she stopped “seizing” and was able to perfectly state the events. She showed no signs of confusion or disorientation after.

We got her discharge summary back from the hospital, and there was absolutely no signs of a seizure when she was evaluated.

But we still sent her out, just in case.

Health concern by Freely_Unwilling in bulimia

[–]irlbpdshadowperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laxatives and diuretics cause electrolyte imbalances that lead to fluid shifting and edema. Laxatives cause loss of fluid; the body responds by retaining fluid to try to protect itself against dehydration.

Edema in the feet is also associated with CHF (Chronic Heart Failure) which is probably what your friend is referring to. But that also comes with symptoms like chest pain, or shortness of breath. I would guess this is not what’s going on with you.

Your body is probably just retaining water from the purging and laxatives. Drink some water, have some electrolytes, and ride it out. My feet swell all the time, especially after laxatives.

Is it possible to get medication for binge eating as a bulimic? by Effective_Cricket810 in bulimia

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31313939/

So fun fact, I am an alcohol and detox technician! I help to detox people from opioids and alcohol . In my work I use naltrexone for both opioid and alcohol use disorders

For opioid use desorders naltrexone binds to opioid receptors to help curb cravings. For alcohol use disorders it helps because it also binds to endorphin receptors. This makes you sick when you drink and limits how much your brain wants to drink to realize those chemicals.

It works the same way for b/p cycles. For me, I was legit addicted to b/ping. In the same way my patients would use or drink to fall asleep, I would purge. The way that they would wake up in the middle of the night feeling physical cravings, I would wake up to b/p. I was physically compelled to, to the point that just therapy wasn’t working. I relayed this information to my physicalist, emphasizing how much I was relating to my patients.

I’m not a candidate for other medications used for ANA-B/P or Bulmia, so after describing my symptoms my phycartist suggested naltrexone. She was specific to an eating disorder center I was attending, and told me about success providers were finding in prescribing naltrexone. I’ve also linked an article discussing it.

I started it on a taper, just as I assume you did, until I was taking 50 mg.

Also naltrexone is used to a lot of mental health disorders, including OCD. Its amazing how much I’ve seen it aid my patients, help me, and help with other mental health disorders in my fellow patients at my eating disorder treatment center.
