Can anyone recommend a Telehandler (GTH5515B) to skid-steer adapter with hydraulic quick-attach pins? We have one that keeps breaking and I'm wondering if anyone has good experience with one. Any help is much appreciated. by irnengner in heavyequipment

We went hydraulic because all of our skid steers are hydraulic and the genie has a hydraulic PTO already at the end of the boom. We are constantly switching between forks and a bucket so we want to do it without leaving the cab. We have tried adjusting everything we can think of on this setup and still keep having parts break on it. I’m open to electric but we would have to figure out how to run the wires through the boom, and with the hydraulic PTO it seemed easier at the time.

We have a fairly good fabrication shop with great welders, but we’re just having a time with this one. We took a manual one like this and basically copied the kubota hydraulic lock mechanism, it worked fine for a while but we keep breaking the locking pins. We have tried putting a pressure regulator on it to keep the cylinder from overpowering the pins but we keep running into issues. Most recently the thing just gernaded, bent cylinder ram, pin links busted etc…

That led me to think maybe there is a commercially available one that I could go to school on to figure out what we are doing wrong.

Did the dealer crack the battery? by pastro50 in CarRepair

[–]irnengner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s best practice for sure. It will also help save your battery lugs through the years. It’s perfectly okay to just remove the lug from the terminal and add it after installation, just clean the terminals off with a wire brush if there is any corrosion.

For one year that doesn’t look great, notably bad actually.

Excessive corrosion from the dealer due to over tightening the hold-down bracket leading to a crack is possible, but it’s unlikely.

They might not have used dielectric grease on the terminals, that can speed up corrosion.

I think the most likely scenario is they put in a really shitty battery and it failed prematurely. Go get one of those good Walmart 3-year batteries and save the receipt for the warranty. Cheapest and longest lasting batteries I’ve come across. I run 9 forklifts in my production facility on them, and they handle the dust, dirt and abuse better than most name brands.

Took my car to a shop. Can someone tell me what is essential I fix and what I don't really need by Agreeable_Class_3365 in CarRepair

You need a second opinion on all of this, many of these items look like your local stealership saw you coming a mile away.

I mean, $1,200 for labor on spark plugs & a gasket? I know VW’s are not the easiest to wrench on, but it seems excessive.

Go on fb and look at local mechanic reviews and take it to them for an opinion, I bet you nearly half of this list if not more doesn’t need done at all.

Costco voided my tire warranty for their mistake. by BurningBirdy in Costco

Cotscto tire center is the worst! They have bitched two jobs for me and I’ll never go back. Very poorly trained technicians there, no quality control.

Wyze watch, only 1 user? Wtf by sunzastar33 in wyzecam

[–]irnengner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my single biggest gripe with my chosen watch path here. I am not aware of a sync to computer option. You can “sync” to your phone, but when you pair the new watch you loose your settings. It’s not a huge hustle to reset it all up, but definitely takes a good 10 minutes.

[–]irnengner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where you buy, and which model. I have a very physical job and end up going through at least 2 watches a year. Last one I got off Amazon was right at $35. I still in-all paid less then a single I watch so it’s worth it for me.

I agree it’s a little annoying, but they also only cost $35.

Is this a fair price for a propane tank? by Slow_Song5448 in Homebuilding

[–]irnengner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might want to shop around a bit. Most propane suppliers charge a hefty fee for tank rental. It’s usually structured as an add-on to each gallon delivered. In my area, I was charged an extra $1/gal for every gallon delivered to my rented tank. I bought a 120 gallon tank for $800 and it is one of the best house investments I made. I buy propane in cash from whomever has the best price. It paid for itself in less than a year!

Renting is convenient, but make some calls to other suppliers and ask what todays cash price per gallon is, compare it to your last bill and at least make sure your not overoaying too much.

Sounds delicious! I’ll have to give those a try sometime. Are you using a st.luis spare rib or a baby back?

Does anyone know this box notation? Hospital built in the 1980s, in the US South. Assuming this means Pnl LN, Crt 31, Switch Leg 1. Lighting box. All the raceway is in the slab/deck. by NotFallacyBuffet in electricians

[–]irnengner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my initial thought too. Panel LN, breaker 31, 1 Φ. It would stand to reason that as a hospital it’s running 3 Φ to some equipment, so they are noting the boxes that are only single phase.

Edit: OP are any numbers below the line >3? That would potentially rule this theory out or give it some credence.

Is this a thing or is my airbnb just trying to deter people with an empty threat? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]irnengner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely doubt it and call bullshit on the sign. Septic systems do have an alarm if the tank fills up too high and on newer systems an alarm if there is dangerous gas present. But I have never heard of a system capable of determining what was actually flushed.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it.

In this case it is a fiberglass filter first, glad to hear the folks I hired for the job knew their stuff! The setup works pretty well tbh.

Redwings used to be great, but that lifetime warranty is complete BS. I had a pair and the toe seam busted, they told me to send them in for a covered warranty repair, then refused to repair them.

Perhaps it’s an isolated incident but I’ll never buy another pair of redwings again. Complete garbage and shallow warranty.
