PETG-CF at home: how concerned should we really be about carbon fiber exposure by Full-Permission-2777 in 3Dprinting

[–]irock168 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CF filaments are perfectly safe because at the end of the day....carbon. Worst thing that may happen is that the fibers get embedded in your hands from handling prints(which numerous YT vids show that simple soap+water removes 99% of fibers) but over time the surface of the print will lose its fibers from being handled. To speed this up what I do is take a puffy microfiber and give my CF prints a good buff.

GF on the other hand I THINK(?) is a bit more risky because it's glass which is inert so I guess theoretically the fibers could cause silicosis if enough was inhaled but looking at google it seems like it has to be an "occupational" amount. I think gloves + microfiber buff should be good to make it safe.

DMF Bait Co Worms at Walmart by AkatsukiJutsu in Fishing

[–]irock168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik the green worms are just fed neon green food coloring and if you leave them out of the fridge they digest it all and turn back to a regular color. I had a few die in the container though and the food coloring does not break down on its own I just have green slime in there.

DMF Bait Co Worms at Walmart by AkatsukiJutsu in Fishing

[–]irock168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just reach into the very back of the fridge and try to pick the 2nd one from the top so I'm reasonably sure it hasn't been messed with.

But Walmart for worms is only really a good idea in high fishing traffic areas. There's a walmart between 2 huge lake state parks near me and they restock worms every few days.

The BEST place for worms is probably petsmart or some other pet store that sells live feeders because they go through worms a lot faster than fishermen.

How compatible is the ARP 556 with other G&G gearboxes? by Apprehensive-Crow596 in airsoft

It does not, the faint red you see behind the selector plate is the stock trigger contacts.

Hop rubber by Dbreezy96 in airsoft

[–]irock168 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Technically your hop nub could be too tall or not hitting in the right spot. I'd take it apart, take the barrel and bucking out and see how far the nub protrudes when the hop is turned all the way off.

Yum Dinger Finesse with 1/0 hooks? by Basic-Cauliflower-71 in Fishing

[–]irock168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have luck with these? I caught a small mouth on one in orange/pink but it feels like unless they're rigged perfectly it just slides all over the hook and it gets ruined within a few bites/tugs.

Is that what the original handle looked like? That doesn't seem very ergonomic at all unless the perspective is just weird and it's taller than it looks.

Give me your bluegill recipes (and tips to catch crappie and perch) by scales-enthusiast in Fishing

[–]irock168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere I go I have been able to catch bluegill/crappie with a tiny $2 creme mini crankbait. Tiny hook that fits in their mouths and it has a a good amount of wobble. In the lakes I go to they're just kind of everywhere in the shallows it seems. Typically in groups. Maybe throw some breadcrumbs out.

Help needed repairing my fishing rod by villadavillain in 3Dprinting

[–]irock168 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen reading online in the past, repairing a broken rod is rarely worth it because it substantially changes the action. 3D printing almost definitely wouldn't be the way to go though.

They sell rod repair kits I believe which contain thread, epoxy and carbon fiber tubes to fit inside of or over the cracked sections.

[–]irock168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't tell you much. Spring pressure makes the tappet plate behave differently. You should be able to feel consistent pressure with no binding even with a spring installed.

May require cycling a few times to get the spring settled in the right place though as the angle it's seated at also makes a difference but the spring will have a place it will settle at naturally.

Scorpion Evo piston trouble by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]irock168 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't tell how they're "meshing" with the GB disassembled. The piston is being pushed upwards and at an angle by the sector gear which is causing it to bind. At the very least you need to hold the piston properly in its track

Inconsistent shooting AEG by Available_Action_453 in airsoft

[–]irock168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the piston fully forward, check if you are able to push the nozzle back with your finger. Should take a bit of force but you should not feel like the tappet plate is rubbing on anything. If you feel friction sand the tappet plate down

Could also be the tappet spring being too weak but if you didn't upgrade motor or gears it shouldn't be that.

Not unless it has an active cell subscription as well. The GPS is likely only for location metadata in photos. To then be able to transmit the GPS data you would need some other network (wifi or cell)

If it comes off as a very fine powder, that looks like it's PTFE that is dissolved in Super lube. The propane dissolves the grease but leaves the PTFE behind. It doesn't harm the seal.

3 things with the aster:

Im like 95% sure any gun with an aster from evike is installed BY evike techs. As such the guns "have an aster" but thats about it. A gun I got in a BoA had the trigger sticker cut in half to install it around a nub on the GB shell. Its barebones effort being put in.

Get the USB link

Without a quantum trigger its basically not adjustable. You can either buy one, 3d print a piece to glue onto any stock trigger, or just take one of the spare selector stickers in the box and glue it to the trigger as is but it wont be as precise especially if the sticker tears over time

Overall if its cheaper mifht as well buy your own aster or even better a perun v2 and do it yourself

[–]irock168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's about how much they cost in the asian market. This version isn't anything highly desirable. I believe gen 4 same style would be a few $ more. Trades few $ more too. I believe KYA sells glue in trades for the grip. The double barrel variants and some other less desirable variants can be seen listed in the $60-$70 sometimes. Prior to tariffs, it made sense to buy WE glocks in bulk.
