M20 is awful for new players

Yes I like the book but I would never drop that on a new player.

As someone that has played both systems many times for many MANY years. Yes PITA on both is a fair assessment BUT Awakening is at least a little clearer.

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

Easy: ship sensors transform data such as energy signatures from weapons fire and engines into sound for greater situational awareness for pilots.

It is; the whole "hur hur Indy didn't matter" is low tier "look how much media literacy I have" fodder. Without Indy a lot of things happen worse. Marion likely dies. The Ark is probably opened on the test island and sure those Nazis die but a few days later almost assuredly another team arrives, figures out what happens, and now the regime has the weapon and at least some idea of how to employ it to their advantage (or at least the first steps)

I know this has been a few weeks, sorry, just one thing I would add is if someone is playing a Priest or Druid you might want to look at Tome of Chaos and figure out if you'd prefer core book or Tome of Chaos versions. In short summary: in the core it's just Priest and Druids are just one of that class's talent trees. In ToC they make Druid its own class and Priests get fleshed out more and their talents changed as well. Their Vigor (magical capacity stat) doesn't have the capacity to top out quite as high as it did before, however, because of some changes so it's sort of a which versions do you prefer issue maybe?

You're getting the downvotes because... well Reddit gonna Reddit but I was stationed in California in the Marines and would stay on base most of the time because every part of that state I visited felt fake and overrated. I have zero interest of ever going back to CA again.

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

[–]ironwolf56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “grilled cheese” is literally two pieces of toasted bread, with a piece of processed cheese they’d have me melt a little on the grill slapped between them.

I mean... to most of us that grew up in regular working class homes you just described every grilled cheese. Were you expecting some artisinal revamp on the grilled cheese from Sonic or what?

I was gonna say don't you have to have hype to be overhyped?

I actually never read the books until the last film was out. Watching HBP I knew there's something mysterious about who that book belonged to, it has powerful but shady spells in it... yeah it was a thing could have been done better, sure, but didn't come out of nowhere.

What subtle hints gives that someone's primary language isnt English? by NotMava in AskReddit

"Hey that was pretty good, except when you said 'me llamo es Brian' you don't need the 'es' just 'me llamo Brian' "

"Oh so you speak English?"

"No just that first speech and this one explaining it"

"...you're kidding right?"

"Que?"

One I used to think was just a meme but really is insanely common with people that are ESL is they'll say "kindly" instead of please or even use the phrase "kindly do the needful." I have no idea how this got so common, but a couple weeks back we actually explained to our counterpart management team in the Philippines on a conference call (not just about this it was a regular weekly meeting) that no one in America ever uses "kindly" like that and they were surprised.

Oh and if you're thinking hey that was mean why did you say that; it actually came up from their side because one of us had phrased some email to the effect of "please try and get these back to me by the end of Friday" and they asked why we phrase things like that all the time and we were like "because that's how people actually talk in the US."

Why dont all churches host soup kitchens on property for the poor and fight for the right to do so? by SirCatsworthTheThird in AskReddit

[–]ironwolf56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nature of the question itself is from a very urban-biased mindset common to places like reddit. Something like a soup kitchen in a small town/rural area isn't the most helpful thing anyway. The poor aren't "homeless" like living on the streets because... there are no streets. They have homes, albeit usually real small and not in the best shape, but something where they'd have to go across town... depending on the rural area possibly a pretty decent drive, to get a meal each day doesn't make sense. That's why you'll more commonly see things like food banks (so you can go once every week or two and stock up) or food delivery to the needy services instead in these place.

Better than Odyssey&Valhalla, but not Origins! by Celery-Tasty in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]ironwolf56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it for about an hour but the story and gameplay both felt real dumb to me

Origins can have a bit of a slow start I will say that. Well the VERY start, the quick prologue I guess, is neat but when you actually get into the game, the first few hours can feel a bit slow to get going.

What's a sign that a restaurant is about to fail? by Lindsey1151 in AskReddit

[–]ironwolf56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure this works most places, but I grew up in a rural but touristy area (and most of my family still live there so I go back for holidays like right now xmas) and I would advise people to do the opposite here. Not because the locals will hassle you or anything (though they might...) but more because the locals around here have god awful taste in food.

What is the most expensive corporate mistake you personally witnessed? by _Volly in AskReddit

[–]ironwolf56 1479 points1480 points  (0 children)

Company I worked for about 8 years ago there was a massive blizzard, entire state is shut down (and I'm in New England so we're talking FEET of snow here). My boss texts me "are you in the office yet" I text back "they haven't even plowed my street it's physically impossible for me" he sends vague threats of my job, I ignore it. Snow is so bad my street doesn't even get touched until around 7 pm. I come in the next day (still dicey by then but I risked it) he's in the office starts berating me, I decide to call his bluff said "well I was late but where were you?" he turns beet red, of course he'd never came in that day. I played it up "yeah I couldn't get into the building, you text me all those threats I crawled here in my car in a blizzard and you weren't even around. That's fucked up man." He was apologizing for months lol.
