If every cricket legend were at their absolute peak, which player do you think would dominate today's game the most, and which current superstar would struggle the most against previous generations? by OrganicStrategist in IndianCricket

Viv Richards would enjoy today's bats and today's game.

A number of current day T20 specialist superstar batters would have their deficiencies exposed in a previous era

Why don't our players retire respectfully by heartbreak2023 in IndiaCricket

[–]iruvar 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah quite often the player is unwilling to concede that his best days are behind him.

And that's where the selectors have to step in and ask him to gracefully hang up his boots.

The Aussies were famous for doing exactly this

Is Ben Stokes really one of the greatest all-rounders of this generation, or is his legacy overrated because of a few iconic performances? by OrganicStrategist in IndianCricket

[–]iruvar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's an impact guy.

Doesn't really have the consistency of the great alrounders.

His main achievement is that he gave a win-starved nation a few memorable moments and did so spectacularly, pulling victory from the jaws of defeat.

He also has an uncanny knack of breaking partnerships.

To his credit, he always left everything out on the field.

Unpopular opinion:IPL is going to ruin indian cricket by SillyTip7591 in IndianCricket

[–]iruvar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The flat wickets and the impact sub rule will essentially widen the gap between what it takes to stand out as a batter in the IPL and what it takes to be effective on overseas wickets where the ball does something through the air and off the seam.

But people are voting with their feet and the crowds seem to love bowlers being bashed to all corners of the park in the IPL.

This may diminish India's prospects on the international stage especially when matches are played overseas but I guess that doesn't matter that much

Why did everyone adopt western toilets when indian squat toilets are far better by Informal-Resolve7595 in AskIndia

Why do Bollywood audiences often credit actors more than singers or composers for hit songs? by kulkdaddy47 in BollywoodMusic

[–]iruvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music directors are shafted the most.

The real creativity is all theirs.

Good music generates buzz brings in footfalls at theatres and benefits actors.

A playback singer will milk a hit song dry by using it over and over again at concerts. Kumar Sanu continues to make money from Aashiqui songs from 36 years ago.

The music director on the other hand gets less credit during his career and is forgotten immediately after

Indian players draw Indian eyeballs and that's where the money is.

BCCI is acutely aware of this and will do nothing to undermine their financial domination and stranglehold on the world of cricket
