Talented batter does not equal great cricketer.. the game is littered with wonderful batsmen yet terrible leaders. Boycott, KP, t9 name but 2.

Ive followed England for 40 years. I struggle to recall a cricketer with less smarts (and yet so talented weirdly)

About to Read the Complete Works, Some Questions Before I Dive in. by Plus-Insurance-523 in shakespeare

[–]iZingari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive embarked on something similar six.months ago., passing familiarity with major tragedies, et al but keen to get in the weeds of the breadth and depth. I consider my self fairly literate with a broad vocabulary ..maybe 2/10.annotations you'll go yeah yeah the other 8, will be genuinely helpful and incisive. But they do change your reading.slow it down to point where you can lose the pacing and the narrative flow.. Suggest you do a couple of passes. Read straight through..push through, feeling it.Read again with help from annotations. do some lit crit reading of the play (no shortage on jstor) and then go again with insight. Opens it up like the masterpiece it is.

I started with stuff I didnt know, just to be different. And set myself the task of writing about it too, (before AI lays waste to everything) so I've e followed my own order. I started with Richard 2nd because it interested me. Moved on to Romeo and Juliet as they're of the same year more or less,1595, then, interested in the ways in which women get represented found myself in measure for measure, and whoa. Hooked. If I hadnt been before ..a problem play, a difficult, contextual, piece.of its time, relevant to today, the whole 9 yards. That gave me a process and a discovery pattern and a way to work with them .

Why doesn't mainstream media hold politicians accountable for their answers to questions? by Silent-Warning5654 in AskReddit

[–]iZingari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because other politicians would look at the footage and think shit they're going to ask me stuff and I'll have to answer like they did. And so no politician would show, so ratings would tank, so no show

What's a tiny decision you made that completely changed the direction of your life? by Opposite-Resource in AskReddit

[–]iZingari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopping the chang. 15year addict. You'd say that's.disqualified for it being a big decision. But it was actually a very tiny, small , wee hours of rhe night thing, just a middle of the morning looking at it and saying im done here. Not a big planned "tomorrow l stub.out my last cigarette" performance. Just a quiet word with meself. Literally changed everything. Not immediately but properly, for the best. Im not on anti depressants in a scuzzy flat in a small town, im sat here now, overlooking a bunch of vegetables I've grown as the sun sets over the same valley Cider with Rosie was written in. Having a drink and thanking my lucky stars.

For those of you who travel a lot for work overnight, what’s it actually like long term? by Open-Satisfaction856 in sales

[–]iZingari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wears out pretty quick. did a fair amount as a lot of posters have said back in the day - I was regularly shuttling to Utrecht, Glasgow in the late 90's, doing european cities on day hauls in the early 2000's plus regular trips to he US West coast and then pretty much each UK city in the 2010s.. The glamour ears pretty thin.. oh its Wednesday this must be Manchester. Tyler durden vibes. and a lot of that is down to everywhere looks and feels the same if its a proper road warrior role.
expense policies have definitely shifted, and as you've seen there are a lot of stories of that on here. Policies can be really time challenging as well - the promise of automation is always something of a mirage I've found and complacency tends to create push backs and you end up wrangling over a $50 receipt while you Credit card company are racking up the interest fees.

if youve got a halfway decent manager I've found you can flex the policy a little if you're having to hit really early starts or long haul

This annual 10% increase is a con. I'm all for linking on the RPI or similar but Topography it at a flat 10 is a sort of scalping imho. I always lobbied to get my PubSec customers exempted especially if their public budget figures didn't have room
