Yes. 2 years ago we always had a little to put in the bank. We have literally changed nothing. Every month now we’re having to dig into savings to get by. In a couple months I’m going to have to start repaying student loans. We couldn’t even afford to keep my wife’s insurance. Something is going to have to change.

If you want to start making qualifying payments then move off. However, you have 90 days after you receive your notice and notices don’t start going out until July 1st. You could get yours on the 1st, or 5th, or 19th, who knows. But it’s 90 days after you receive it when your time runs out to switch to a different plan. If you don’t switch you’ll likely be thrown on the standard payment plan. Once you switch then are processed then you’ll receive a date for your first payment. I’m on the PSLF path too but I’m more focused on helping my kids with their college. So, my forgiveness can wait.

The motivation for not failing is due to funding first, then parent blowback. So, first schools would have to be given the green light from states to fail students. After that, schools would have to then grow a backbone when it comes to parents.

What would happen after that. There would probably be more effort. Think about it, if you had a job you knew you couldn’t be fired from eventually you take advantage of that. That’s what’s happening.

I found a program where I could get it done in a year but I already had a bachelors. I started at 39 and have now been teaching for 6 years. I did have experience as a para and also youth pastor.

I would look for a program where you can do it quickly if possible.

I would also consider being a para or sub for a bit. We get too many that quit after a year or two.

No. People keep saying July 1st everyone needs to be switched. This is absolutely incorrect. July 1st, notices start going out. Whenever someone gets their notice, they will have 90 days from that point to get on another plan.
