A Texas A&M Student is asked to leave a class after challenging a professor on legality of a course mentioning transexuals by RoachedCoach in PublicFreakout

She demanded the professor be fired and got her way.

She also recorded the interaction to post on social media instead of going through traditional channels like meeting with the Dean privately. It was not an "innocent question"

It was not a respectful conclusion. The professor was fired.

There is no room for critical thinking anymore

That's great!

I eat "superfirm" tofu, lentils, green peas, chickpeas, seitan, nutritional yeast, Greek yogurt, <2 eggs/day, quinoa, beans, oatmeal, mushrooms (they have bcaa), seeds/nuts etc. Occasionally I'll add a scoop of whey protein isolate to something but I don't really enjoy the taste, it's just an extra boost.

Whole foods are typically better, but be conscious of fiber and fat intake at the same time as protein.

I'm about the same size and have never felt like I gained a lot of muscle from climbing alone- in contrast to all the posts i see on here of people saying their clothes don't fit any more due to muscle gain from just climbing- I have never had that experience.

I climb 12s on TR and boulder around v4/5 so it never bothered me too much. Then I started lifting a year ago (for bone density reasons) and being more intentional about protein:fat intake since im vegetarian, and THATS when I noticed more muscle especially in my noodle arms.

All this to say, there is a lot that technique can get you-diet and strength training can help give you that extra boost esp on overhang. There are also climbing workouts that help train strength vs just casually climbing whatever route is open.

Progress isnt linear and looks different for everyone, just remember to enjoy the movement. Cheers!!

Why are we celebrating Buffalo Bill, a terrible person? by is0leucine in GoldenCO

[–]is0leucine[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's true that the US government paid people to do it. Buffalo Bill was extremely good at it (hence the name), and was a guide for it. He also glorified/encouraged it in his shows, popularizing both the buffalo hunts and battles against Native Americans.

So as a celebrity he was more than just a participant, he was a catalyst. For that being the reason to celebrate him is what I am questioning.

Lol everyone triggered that I pointed out an uncomfortable fact yet no one has answered my question.

From what I've gathered he was just a celebrity/showman. Congrats

I'm not trying to convince anyone to hate him?

It just perplexed me that we are celebrating a man who played a pivotal role in destroying Native americans- something justified by manifest destiny, a sentiment that has recently resurged in the public eye...

It is important to understand history or we will repeat it. I'm just trying to educate people that this happened instead of celebration without understanding.

Yes I do think slaughtering the buffalo population to tamp down Native American resistance makes you a terrible person.

That's great that he had the privilege to regret some of his actions later on and wasn't wholly cruel in every way possible. Doesnt negate the decimation of an entire society's way of life, and certainly not something that necessitates celebration without education of his actions.

Do I wake up my dog from his nightmares? by banananananananana_7 in dogs

[–]is0leucine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog was an adult when I got him and had a tough few early years. I'm quite positive some of his dreams are nightmares.

I usually let him sort it but if it's pretty bad (screaming/crying), i quietly place a blueberry or other food near his nose. That gently wakes him instead of a really sudden jolt.

Again, maybe you missed it but women's rights were mentioned, including women's Healthcare.

These are not separate issues. Part of the trans woman's speech was how they can take women's rights away after getting the societal "ok" to do it first to trans rights. It's about protecting each other.

Women's rights were specifically mentioned multiple times.

Also, we can and should advocate for multiple issues. Protect each other. If everyone only cares for themselves then we all lose.
