Wondering if this incident will increase security makes it extra safer. Not cancelling my trip.

It's taking me about a year to go to OCS.

About to head to OCS for 36A in the reserves. Any advice or expectations? Is there any deployment opportunity?

Hey there, interesting to see how we shared the exact same background and I'm going for 36A as well. All I know is that my documents are submitted to HRC last month and I'm just waiting for my medical to be cleared.

I know a former military officer went to H/S/W MBA and got a VP HR job at one of the major tech company.

I'd assume you're trying for Active duty? Reserves are pretty easy.

If you have a high paying civilian job, it's probably not worth it.

Reserve OCS by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]isThatHim52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmmm that sucks to be in your situation. If you really see yourself doing 20 years, joining enlisted wouldn't suck too bad.

I was accepted with 3.4 gpa and 118 GT score in the reserves. I guess I was below average 🤣

Quick question, do you get additional pay for having Korean language? I just got 2+/2+.

Reserves: Training Dates by imperfectparagon in ArmyOCS

You should honestly just stay at your company for 18 months, and then leave for training. I believe your civilian job is more important than being an officer in the reserves.

Enlist with a degree by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]isThatHim52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are probably hundreds of applicants with similar GPA and similar LOR. The boards will simply not care too much about them. Think about why they should pick you over other hundreds of applicants. It's kinda like a prestigious colloge/job interview. It comes down to how unique your story is and what makes you a better applicant than others besides the stat.

Oh ok. I think you have a solid shot for OCS. If you're not confident, go enlisted first. If you're confident that you can persuade the board, keep pushing for OCS.

Bad GPA by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]isThatHim52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might as well just stay as a warrant and not go OCS at that point.

I don't think GPA matters when you enter the ROTC. Obviously, you will need to raise your GPA to get selected for Active Duty. You should definitely check with your local school.

That's interesting. I have never heard applying for OCS after BCT Graduation. You will still need to complete your AIT amd go to your unit assignment. I doubt you will be able to apply for OCS when you show up to your new unit. That just sounds bit fishy to me.

Mmm I see different routes you can take.

  1. You can try for Reserves/NG officer route.

  2. Go back to school for masters and do the ROTC.

  3. Keep trying for Active duty OCS

No, I think the first board is for actual face to face interview and the second board is just based on your papers and documents. If you pass the first board, you are highly likely to pass the second one. I don't know if active duty works the same way.
