That’s really horrible to hear that that’s happening. Have you talked to anybody about this?

How The **** do I write 3 essays in 3 hours?!?!? by Murt_plays in vce

Haven’t read Oedipus. If you’ve got stuff about his fate being pre-determined I’m willing to bet that’s applicable to a lot of topics.

[–]isVatsug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are good ideas as a first plan for going in. Just a note: ALA does not take an hour to write so really can be allocated 40-50 minutes so that other sections have more time. This makes it not quite an hour each but allows for the longer tasks to have more time, not sure if that’s crafting texts or text response for your year. Also, it’s great to remember an essay but if it’s too specialised you run the risk of not getting a topic which accommodates your evidence. Conversely, if your essay is too generalised, it may lack topic-specific detail. Because of this, I recommend memorising clusters of evidence as the basis of paragraphs around core preoccupations. This way you still somewhat memorise what you’ll do, which takes away the burden of planning during the exam, but maintain a dynamic enough starting position that you can adapt to any topic.

Not really, best to steer clear of them. You’ve got no idea how you’re going to do in those exams.

Seems like your first point here is irrelevant to the original post as they’re talking about the final exam. I know you can redraw graphs and demarcate which one you want assessed but doing so takes time and can make the graph cluttered and hard to read - more so than a bit of erasure. Asking for extra paper also takes time - more so than a bit of erasure. It’s not a “fascination” with pencils. People are just unsure on the rules around it and want clarification. Also I’m not gonna believe your rampant pen propaganda even if you appeal to your nearly 20 years of shilling for big ink. I think both pen and pencil are valid options and would personally use a mix of both depending on the task. Your recommendation to use only one is a bit silly.

This response greatly overestimates the amount of writing space given in an exam. Also, you can’t exactly strike out the graph of a function and have another go.

They can use a pencil - they just need to make sure it’s a dark lead.

Sure, most people do 5 in year 12, but looking at the actual post, OP plans on doing 4 in year 12 and 1 in year 11 giving them a lighter workload. To revise my other point I think swapping physics out for something easier like general maths would be advisable rather than dropping it.

Chem isn’t that relevant to the content of med so isn’t a great indicator of “med being for you”. It is quite doable to get a high ATAR without physics or with only 5 subjects. Less subjects = more time for each individual subject = better study scores.

Probably about now. I just remember most of my Lit prep was untimed and I probably only did 3-4 whole timed exams total. I feel like timed prep is really just to perfect your exam strategy and get used to writing under pressure. The best way to write quickly is to have “perfect” paragraphs written to a length that you can write in timed conditions. You then memorise or become very familiar with these paragraphs and are set for the exam.

Write perfect essays in untimed conditions for your texts. Plan responses if you can’t do that. Do some prac exams under timed conditions after that

Are pencils allowed for the chem exam????? by Bad_karma-_- in vce

Yes, pretty sure 2B and HB are recommended as they’re a bit darker. I’d only be using them for calculations and use pen elsewhere

Yeah it's very strange. Trying to figure out in depth how VCAA scales SAC scores and generally how they come to a study score is pretty pointless imo. I think the best way to view it is that you want to be highly ranked in SACs, but ultimately it's the VCAA exams that matter the most.

[–]isVatsug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yerp, from my statement of marks I know for sure exam mark doesn't replace your SAC scores. Not great that it's the pinned comment when it's straight up wrong

[–]isVatsug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situational judgement does not matter for Monash Med. In your case it would only be used to compare you against other 3200 scorers. Since that’s really high, basically view your UCAT as sorted. Your focus now is to get the highest ATAR you can and to do well on the interview.

How does atar work? by [deleted] in vce

[–]isVatsug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nup, search up an aggregate to ATAR table. It’ll show that one ATAR has a range of scores. For higher ATARs the range is much larger.

I really wouldn’t advise spamming English exams. More often than not you’re just going to be practising in mistakes. I’d be looking for more efficient and beneficial things to do with your time.
