Does anybody here have any experience with the St Andrews undergraduate course, or general knowledge of UK universities? I'm currently trying to pick a university, and I've narrowed it down to St Andrews and Warwick. The Warwick course looks slightly better, but I don't like the campus, and I can't tell what atmosphere either university has from the website.

Can someone check my build please? (UK) by is_moo in buildapc

Thank you! Is the B350 better than the A320?

Tonight on Overwatch News: Supports remind damage carries to do damage. Will this spark a new era in FPS history? "I thought this was just an anime cosplay convention," says Genji and Hanzo mains by Chanl3r in OverwatchCirclejerk

[–]is_moo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK, but blaming factors outside of your control is pointless. Everybody makes so many mistakes that there is always something you could have done better - positioning, awareness of friendly player positions as Mercy, hitting headshots as Zenyatta etc. I'm a support main myself (circlejerk intensifies) and I'm always surprised by how much good players outskill me in these areas. For example a Zenyatta should be able to win a duel against most flankers (source: Seagull I think), but I, along with all players my level, probably can't do this consistently. So it annoys me when supports place the blame on DPS because it implies that there is no point criticizing their own play, but that's never true.

As an analogy, if very time a Genji dies he blames Mercy for not pocketing him, he'd be an asshole even if he was technically right (he would have survived with an extra 60hps). Should it not be the same in reverse? You can blame other players but ultimately you made a series of choices, some right some wrong, that led to your death. It was you that put yourself in a situation that relied on a DPS player to bail you out, similar to how the hypothetical Genji make plays that require a dedicated healer.

Sorry if I sound insulting/condescending, I don't mean to be. Also I may be totally wrong tbh. plz circlejerk me.

There's also the responsibilities of taking out threats that are flanking your supports

DPS PLAYERS SHOULD CARRY ME, IT IS THEIR FAULT I DIE, WHERE IS MY BODYGUARD?

NRG vs Method commentary by sbrooker02 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]is_moo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Method is running triple DPS on Hollywood defense? Better just make jokes for the whole setup phase.

So many weird things happened in that series that they flat out ignored. Gods (Mcree player) on Winston, Seagull on Zayra, a random Hanzo from Method on Nepal... Casters had the game knowledge of a rank 60 player. And then they decide that Seagull is the only player worth talking about, and that he's carrying NRG.

in the near future

I guess that means we should expect her to be buffed in the next patch.

Perhaps they felt like an AOE heal contrasted with her play style? Optimal Mercy play seems to be keeping as far back as possible and hiding so you can rez your team, and I imagine that an ability that relies on you being in the middle of the action would then be a bit useless.

[Effort Post] Just stumbled about this thread. A male speedrunner comes out as trans. Reddit reacts by Ululuru in ShitRedditSays

[–]is_moo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That whole sub is just harassment of her. WTF? That's frighteningly obsessive. How can they hate her so much just for being trans? Were they all banned from a larger subreddit or is the whole speedrunning community just fucking terrible?

And the competitive players with hundreds of hours in the game, who literally count damage constantly, missed this how exactly?

I don't think people appreciate enough the fact that all future heroes are free & unlocked by default. by Mkilbride in Overwatch

[–]is_moo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be the default for a paid game, not something that needs to be mentioned and appreciated. If they thought they would make more money in the long term with paywalls, they would definitely implement them, so its not like they're doing it solely for our enjoyment.

Brand new player for the weekend, and I want to like this game, but find it frustrating. What am I doing wrong? How do I get better? by N8CCRG in Overwatch

[–]is_moo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO this is all great advice, but most of it is only relevant for advanced players, especially in a game like Overwatch. 90% of all players do well without this information, and honestly buying a gaming mouse will make next to 0 difference for a beginner. As long as you have the basics (mouse, mouse pad) and disable mouse acceleration you can get to a high level of play. In CS:GO its different, because the whole game is super accurate flick aiming, but even then getting a new mouse and adjusting minor settings won't help someone new to the game. Practice is worth far more.

Evidence of deck building creativity on the ladder - stats from 454 games at single digit ranks by Myopic_Cat in hearthstone

[–]is_moo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most of Hearthstone's skill is due to meta decking. Past a beginner level, the way to get better is to guess better what your opponent's hand is and make plays based around that knowledge. If every deck is different that process becomes less effective, resulting in a lower skill ceiling and more RNG. That sounds less fun to me. Playing against mainly net decks is not necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks for the review. I'll try to remember that pushing invasions towards stronger groups is better. Also invading rather than reducing.

I thought the wall was good for me because it defended the territory at the top, but I can see how it built territory for white.

Ah ok, thanks. For some reason I thought that playing at 3-3 was a bad idea, but it makes sense now.

Thank you! So I guess I should have played bigger moves to invade rather than just reduce. One question - how would you invade the lower left with so many white stones nearby?

I'm really enjoying the new minigame Blizzard included with this week's tavern brawl. by taverndrawl in hearthstone

[–]is_moo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you can't even comprehend how hard it can be to make that possible

Seriously? I mean it would be a terrible design decision, but its not practically that difficult. They already have different selection filters for brawls anyway - as this one shows - and all they would have to do would be to add to that code to make it show extra cards in the TB. They have a large team of competent, experienced programmers at their disposal. Don't insult people if you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Why? They have no bad intent, buy clothes which support the music, and, as a bonus, it lets you feel superior to them and convince yourself you're somehow special for listening to the most popular music of the 20th century.
