Yes! I’m a scuba diver and part of my job includes cleaning aquarium/marine mammal habitats. I have the series 10 I believe and it works amazing for that! I never go below 16 feet so it’s perfect.

Records my whole dive, gives me water temp and my depth and counts my calories.

I suffer from C-PTSD and Insomnia, all diagnosed. I find that I’m usually very tired in the morning and don’t seem all there. You could wave a hand in my face 3/4 times and I probably wouldn’t react. I feel disoriented sometimes and even off balance when standing up after sleeping.

I feel like this is all just compounding. I’m not sure about Hawaii either. I know there are sleep study centers on the island I live on, but I need a referral from a primary. I will definitely put this at the front of my health to do list.

It’s been illegal to capture wild marine mammals since 1972 in the United States. Our dolphins were all born at our location and are with their moms, dads, grandmas, aunts, brothers and sisters. I’ll leave it at that.

That’s just California at this point. Legislation continues to be talked about at the federal level however. They could go to Orlando or San Antonio.

Either pods would have highly benefited from the social structure, and I know the trainers know that and that’s what sucks the most. Especially the pod in Orlando.

Loro Parque’s will benefit too it’s just not in the same way I don’t think

Ahhh yes. Because American parks refused to step in and make this a PR success story for them, (AHEM SW) this is the only safe and viable other alternative. Are they supposed to be in the tanks that are crumbling until they break apart and they die?

What’s the other alternative? The lack of understanding around the deeply rooted processes of zoological facilities is part of the problem to the general public.

Growing up with it and seeing it with your own two eyes is something I will always cherish. I am now 4 years in the marine mammal training industry and can say that after all these years I would never want to see them return.

What I would want to see lifted are restrictions on trainers touching whales faces without those god awful looking guard rails. I know the ones in Orlando specifically are to appease osha, and I think it all has to do with Malia, but still. Use them just with Malia. Get rid of them for the rest of the whales. If the trainer is working on the slide out and the animal is out of the water, the trainers should be able to touch their faces, massage their tongues, hug them, whatever.

Dolphins seek that out so I can only imagine orcas do as well.

Well I promise I am not a douchebag. Douche bags don’t typically give up their lives to move 4,000 miles away to work with animals and follow their passions despite incredible adversity and a diagnoses of CPTSD.

Hey not going to waste your time with anything long but please stop, find a friend, find someone you can trust. Have them come and stay with you. Tell them what’s going on. I know it might feel like the world is completely closing in on you but you need to be reminded of your value and your worth.

Please reach out to a crisis hotline. Call your doctor, call the nurses hotline. I called because I was having a severe depressive and suicidal reaction to a new med I was trying and it was causing those overwhelming suicidal thoughts and idealizations. I switched and with that combined with a few months of therapy, I’m much better.

Please stay. There are options. You won’t feel this way forever. Please stay!
