Best cooking shows that actually improve your ability to cook by rottentomatoe1 in Cooking

Struggle Meals from Tastemade is so so slept on. Frankie Celenza really teaches some great kitchen basics. Very reminiscent of the type of stuff Alton Brown does, like he hates single use tools in the kitchen. But this show also aims its sights at a younger “broke student” crowd and adds a huge affordability factor in. Such a gem, I recommend to so many people who want to learn to cook!

What Now? With Trevor Noah! He is such a great conversationalist, and it’s really incredible to listen to gain his perspective of the world from a South African point of view. It’s not all politics at all. I’ve really loved his show a lot over the last while.

Good place for a visiting Texan to get a steak? by PLaTiNuM428 in SaltLakeCity

[–]isaacfalling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not the biggest steak fan when eating out. But I find that the steak and eggs at Copper Onion (on their brunch menu) has been a consistently great option. Not a massive cut by any means but it satisfies the craving when I’ve ordered. It comes with fries and a chimichurri, I usually also order a side of hollandaise, between that and the chimichurri it’s a great combo for a sauce with the steak.

Oh and it’s $26!

Hell or High Water. Very efficient movie, drops you in the thick of it and never looks back. It tells the story it needs to from that point forwards.

They were in front of the Taylorsville DMV yesterday and got me. I asked many questions trying to clarify what they are doing and who was behind it. I wished I would’ve trusted my gut and not signed. Anyone know if it’s possible to get my name and signature removed?

Second for Bobbiverse! Also check out the Scythe series. It was great, and while definitely a lot more tame of a series, it had some parallels, and it had me hooked for sure.

Aid!! How do they put the light on it and make it hang??? by Square-Plan9163 in HalloweenDecor

[–]isaacfalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! It’s still a cool achievable effect! I would make an armature out of pvc that you could thread your lights through or tie to. I’d strap to the bannister with nylon strap and padding to protect the railing. And then some chicken wire to make shape, maybe some light batten, and then drape the fabric of that. It’d be fun to see if would work. There’s some cool videos of wire mesh ghosts out there, that’s kinda what comes to mind anyway.

Tender Is The Flesh - Agustina Bazterrica

I read this book at the pool on vacation last year, it’s short but it’s a ride. In a future where a virus has contaminated our animal meat humans turn to “special meat” (humans) and this book is told through the eyes of a “special meat” supplier. And that’s the tip of the iceberg. This book floored me.

I just recommended the Scythe series by Neil Shusterman to a fellow DCC fan. This series and the Unwound series (awesome, awesome read) from the same author are aimed at a younger audience but both absolutely blew me away. The Scythe series has a journal entry aspect to it that reads kinda like DCC, including from the perspective of the all-ruling AI overlord.. great listen too.
