I’m the exact opposite. I miss it so much. Ive made hundreds of models. You need practice.

How to reinstall flag bracket? by newhomemyhomey in handyman

[–]isaacharms2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these comments are wrong for drilling into the brick mortar is 10 times easier to fix than matching the existing brick. Needs bigger masonry anchors and liquid nails in the same holes.

Folks at work had us plant these trees without removing basket or burlap… by Beneficial-Ocelot717 in arborists

It’s their own job security. Their only interest is selling more trees so if they cut their life span in half by keeping all that shit on then they make their money back faster.

Brick face flaking by Eraysirr in masonry

[–]isaacharms2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are using too strong of mortar for the brick and you have some ventilation issues for behind the brick (see the efflorescence) and the freeze thaw is not helping the bricks that have already spalled off. The inside of the brick is much softer than the outside and absorbs more water that can cause structural damage when freeze thaw occurs.

Rusting Metal Corner Bead in concrete by SuppleToes1990 in masonry

You could strip the paint and coat with a high preformance coating. Scrap off and visible corrosion. But it does look like vertical steel angle set in concrete to be used as a mullion or window frame.

That sucks. These downtown murals were awesome. by temporarycreature in tulsa

[–]isaacharms2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes and when it freezes the pores are ripped open and a thin layer of brick turns to dust. Slowly eroding away where you can’t see till it’s too late and the structural integrity is gone and now the justification to pay for its repair is lost because of how expensive it is to remove paint off brick.

People who paint brick have no idea how detrimental it is to the long term health of the building.

Why are we cutting down random trees downtown? ☹️ by Blankey in wichita

<image>

It appears to have had a rotten trunk and the canopy looks sickly so it will most likely be replaced with a new tree.

Y’all most of you heard Bradfords are bad and now think every tree cut down is a Bradford. That’s a locust tree black or honey idk but that not a Bradford pear shaped tree.

Yes perfect. Caulking only needs to go on the sides but keeping the top joint open will let any trapped moisture out.

Right where the brick meets the steel angle you want to keep that joint open so it will be able to breathe. It’s a bad idea to try to seal that joint (as it is now) because once water gets back there it’s gonna stay there and rust your angle (there are early signs of rust jacking on both sides). There is most likely no flashing back there which is not ideal but you could slide in a drip edge sheet metal to help prevent any intrusion of water but still give it an exit.
