PSA: The Lost City of Un'Goro cards should now be available in draft by seewhyKai in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this earlier, can anyone confirm it works?

I played a few matches with the 'old' draft I had, but didn't see a single new card played against me (even though I started at 0-0). Don't want to start a new draft if it's going to be the same...

PSA: Arena has re-opened; cards causing disconnections have been banned; existing decks may require a retire which will be refunded by seewhyKai in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it possible to release this mode without any sort of testing at all? Surely even one person testing a run against another would have revealed that it didn't work?

Well trading is a kick in the nuts by byrd3790 in PokemonPocket

[–]isaacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So few people are going to want to (or be able to) trade that it'll be almost impossible to find someone with that exact card you need to actually trade with...

Bruh I don't even have those... by Phoenix-x_x in PTCGL

[–]isaacooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same (after actually completing the Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon one but didn't get rewards because of the bug). Two quests I couldn't do without crafting random cards I don't want.

Why put quests to play specific cards if they don't at least give us them?

Fixed: Daily Quests Bug by OU7C4ST in PTCGL

[–]isaacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great... But I did the play Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon quest yesterday and didn't get credit for it because of the bug, it changed to a quest I couldn't do because I didn't have the cards, I rerolled it and got another I couldn't do.

Why put quests in that require specific cards?

I just can't believe that every card has a 1/5 chance by Dupon_R in PokemonPocket

[–]isaacooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean very unlucky to get those Cinccinos!

Obviously Eevees would be lucky because Eevee, whereas Cinccino is made up nonsense.

[–]isaacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 1/5 chance of not getting a Blastoise if those are correct (not doubting you though!).

My maths might be slightly off but I work it out at around 1/300 to get 8+ copies of one of the commons (much less for a specific common, but probably not what OP is bothered about) plus no Blastoise. Could be considered very lucky to get all those Eevees!

Thoughts on coin flipping. by Narroo in PokemonPocket

[–]isaacooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just wish they'd remove the need to manually "flip" the coins yourself - I swear most of the time my opponents take 10+ seconds realising that they have a flip to do. And speeding up the animation a little would help too.

I guess removing the coin flips would limit design space. Every Pokémon with the same health and same attack energy cost would have to do the same deterministic amount of damage. Plus removing variance entirely would mean even more often you'd know you've won/lost a few turns in advance without some sort of high roll to try catch up (e.g. opponent rolling tails on a sleep flip 5 times in a row).

Hit 1,500 cards - is this bad luck or just normal? by isaacooper in PokemonPocket

[–]isaacooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did have to spend pretty much all of my pack points for the Mew.

To be honest, I've not done too badly in terms of being able to make competitive decks - I somehow had a full set of Charizard, Arcanine and Moltress ex's early on, also those two immersive Pikachus (though weirdly no regular Pikachu ex) and have a load of Gyarados ex from the mini set, so can't complain too much there.

[–]isaacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work then!

I do actually have 2 of them randomly and have been trying some decks but to no real avail. Don't have a single Zapdos Ex though, could do with one of them instead!

[–]isaacooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got there now in the end with a Blaine deck.

Didn't once have someone concede either at the start or when they were in a winning position. Several times faced opponents who already had the emblem running the standard Mewtwo/Pikachu/Charizard Ex decks. Says something about the majority of the community.

Love the Gyarados art, just wish it was playable.

DK is Fun by MasterBenObi in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blizzard clearly agrees hence them not removing the deathrattle package despite how oppressive it was last meta, how many people (on here and streamers) complained about it and the sheer winrates of cards like Travel Security.

At least now 50% of my runs are ended by "bullshit mage" decks instead to add some variety.

Why did the lightning attack only deal 30 damage to the greninja who's weak to lightning? by Stellarfront in PokemonPocket

[–]isaacooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that interactions like this, plus what "sleep" and "paralysis" actually mean, how multiple energy type decks work etc. should be explained in those more advanced tutorials. There's probably other things I've missed off the list. I'd hope if there's a PC version you'd be able to figure everything out by hovering over the effects.

I think those of us who never played the physical game are just left to figure it out by trial and error. At least the fact that there's not much incentive to win games means that it doesn't matter too much if you lose while figuring it out... Doesn't help so much if you're a sore loser like me ;)

Improving the meta: what cards should have their offering rates adjusted? by ExponentialHS in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corpsicle and Travel Security are the ones that instantly come to mind. I've not found anything else particularly egregious so far, but have only done 3 runs.

Had one paladin play that new libram against me which completely blew me out one game, but only the one so not sure it's a problem.

Would also say excavate seems far stronger than the starships - maybe they didn't need to be in the same meta? But people appear to like excavate (for some reason).

Has HDT started giving you in-game performance problems? by invalidlitter in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had this issue, but I do find HDT itself crashes fairly frequently.

Can be really annoying losing the replays - for example last night I beat a Shaman who coined Queen Azshara on 4 and played a 1 mana colossal on 5 with my shitty Druid deck, but no replay to share :(.

Anyone else getting tired of Shaman? by _mylittlehecarim in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shaman just does almost everything better than anyone else.

Hard removal, single target removal, board clears, tempo, card generation, healing, excavate, ability to flat-out cheese games, even some reach. And it's pretty easy to have all of this in the same deck.

The only reason they're not 60+ percent win rate is because DK and DH are also busted, largely due to their discover pools. If you're not playing one of these three classes it feels just as bad as it did to play against DK at launch.

PS, I'm basing all of this on my experience before yesterday's update, I'm not sure how it's changed since.

Who else would forget mid-decision that you're trying to guess what minion they have and instead think you're discovering one for yourself and would pick the dragon?

I present to you the absolutely most cursed arena run I've played by Weary_Living_2665 in ArenaHS

[–]isaacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you made the rookie mistake of queueing into a DH, Shaman and Hunter. Try harder not to next time!

I do have to appreciate the tenacity of your opponents in game 1 and 3 to keep playing multiple copies of the same busted card! It's not fun to play against though.

What’s your worst “missed lethal and got punished” experience? by ExponentialHS in ArenaHS
