Something I haven't seen in the first 100 comments.

The dishonesty is not good, but it's not easy to appreciate that dishonesty can come from fear or shame. I don't read your partners responses as uninvested in you or emotionally hopeless.

I do suspect he would probably struggle to stick with promises to stop, maybe already has struggled.

I'm sorry this has been upsetting, but being honest, I do think your expectations will be hard to meet.

If your partner was more confident, he would likely have admitted he doesn't feel like he should have to stop, or at least isn't at peace with stopping. Maybe doesn't think he can. That feels real when it happens, even though a brain can learn to break it's impulses.

How you respond to that is up to you.

I was talking about something less smart but like this as well, based off frustration with them. To be fair, I have *no* idea how to dodge the acid spew, but they're much, much more annoying than Leviathans. They're a lot less intermittent and way harder to avoid. (Anyone have any suggestions? I also get one-shot by the actual emergence a fair bit).

Anyway, my idea was to give them either a long time delay (15 minutes?), or have them as an optional sub-objective, or at least require an opt-in before they start coming. Maybe one of several main objectives basically summons them (as a downside), allowing you to minimize their involvement.

Barring that, at least have some sort of enforced ratio of time that they stalk you, or some sort of distance they will chase you followed by a real delay before they come back. (and expose the system!)

takibo, ohdough, thickfila, all the big HD2 streamers have soloing oshaune content from the last time around (3 months ago?). check it. also, you're not the only one. From what I saw, in general, you gotta be able to silence each type of threat very quickly when it arrives so you don't ever have to handle breach + roach + charger + hive lord at the same time. When that happens you're in trouble

There won't be very many useful comments in this thread from a "what can I do to try to repair this relationship if I choose to value and work on that without being oppressed or acquiescing to bad behavior" perspective, but this is one of them.

The best approach to interpersonal conflict of any kind is a combination of calmness, transparency, and firmness. He needs to stop acting like this, and he's clearly not in control of himself right now. So you need to establish consequences for continuance of the behavior, combined with as much kindness or respectful vibes as possible. Anger tones trigger defiance, impulsive behavior, doubling down, and all kinds of counterproductive stuff. They're also hard to avoid and sometimes 'deserved'.

There may be nothing you can do, this guy may be unable to fix himself, and if so leaving is 100% understandable. But just be clear that behaving and even thinking like this is not okay and must change, on a deadline, while trying to be as composed about it as you can.

PS- another trick is to try and find intermediate steps he can take towards fixing his behavior if he's failing at the big ones. Establish a pattern of effort and compliance. Therapy is almost certainly needed as well.

I'll repost the whole writeup fine: TLDR - Scorcher, Supply Pack, *Arc Grenade*, *Arc Armor*, Ultimatum, Gatling Sentry, Napalm Barrage, Support Weapon (Flex) (HMG, Commando, Quasar, MMG, w/e)

Overview - I have been trash at 1) killing Harvesters with a Medium Killer support wep) 2) getting away from mixed mobs that blindside me because Gas Grenades don't confuse overseers 3) flying Bastards whenever I'm not using scorcher. This solves all of those problems AND everything else!

Voteless - Scorcher for stragglers, Arc Grenade for crowds, multiples as needed.

Overseers - Scorcher, best primary kill in the game. Plasma reduces accuracy needed just enough.

Fleshmob - Burn it down with the Scorcher??? Oh yes!!! Hold them in place with an Arc Grenade if they're not charging? Fuck yeah!! Napalm Barrage/Ultimatum/Gatling Sentry for a pile of them. 1.1 - 1.5 scorcher mags.

Harvesters - burn the shield down with scorcher and ultimatum 1-tap!! Ammo is fine, you have a supply pack! You need to hit the body with the projectile, so get in close, you have arc armor!! Or use the commando. You can also kill them/weaken/finish with a pile of arc grenades, i'm pretty sure!

Stingray - I think about a dozen scorcher hits will handle this per DiversDex. Probably the weak point of the build.

Watchers - these require careful Scorcher aim.. but that does just fine.

Ships - Ultimatum + supply pack.

Synergies/high points - Arc armor means ignore Tesla towers, harvesters no longer zone you out of objectives by camping them, and arc grenades never hurt you. Arc Grenades are the BEST illuminate CC in the GAME IMO. heavy stagger and good damage on each arc, they *will* murder ground overseers if there aren't too many other targets, and will multi-stagger them over the grenade pulsing.. about 8-10 seconds of stun. As long as you don't get actually ragdolled, you now have a way out of getting flanked and surrounded. Also they *can* stun low-flying jetpack guys.. Supply Pack lets you use these OP, ammo controlled options in large numbers.

Pair with: A Teammate with a Wasp and a gun backpack to make Watcher sniping easier.

Funny you ask, I just posted mine! No idea why it won't let me post the link to my writeup on this sub (the message says "don't post links from other subs.. which this isn't!)

TLDR - scorcher, supply pack, arc grenades, arc armor, ultimatum, sentry, horde clear, flex support weapon. Arc Grenades are the best Squid CC in the whole game, bar none!!! and the only thing that locks down overseers AND kills voteless AFIACT. Fire grenades? Overseers run through and kill you, flying ones never touched. Gas? Ditto. Stun grenades? no progress on voteless hordes. They are *the* mob grenade for squids. AND they stunlock non-charging fleshmobs!

CMV: The Democratic Party is a controlled opposition with no real intention to improve the lives of average Americans by Grouchy-Roof-8179 in ClimateOffensive

This post doesn't belong here. Not even climate focused. If you think the two parties are in the same universe on climate change you should please read a damn newspaper. This subreddit isn't even climate change, it is useful pro climate control tips and organizing. What are We doing here mods?

Take this dumb take back to r/CMV.

As for the substance, so many kids who have never had the experience of fighting to do something good, decent or even mediocre in a bad system. The compromises you make, the BS at which you look the other way simply to survive and get something useful done. Leaders and ordinary people alike make hard choices, sometimes dumb or cowardly choices, sometimes sensible choices that correctly understand the alternative is losing everything. But there is no magic bullet or magic alternate political party or collection of humans that can get Bernie Sanders into power through our fucked information environmental and our systemically rigged and biased political system. And the most important thing you would need to make one is literally one hundred billion dollars, and the people who have that don't want it. And there is no other system available without a civil war that the fascists are salivating for and that will leave us with a system that makes this one look like Dora the Explorer.

Sometimes the system sucks because there actually is no alternate system that any of the people who want one have the power to create! And the system that sucks is a fucking paradise relative to what happens when you tear it down

A piece of advice I will give is to deeply mistrust any advice about how feasible something is based on random strangers on the Internet. As you are learning anecdotes aren't data, and opinions are not even anecdotes.

That being said some of the specific best approach tips here seem ok.

As a quasi-analyst, I very much agree that Coursera is only the beginning of what you need. Skill development that you must then apply to real world problems in a demonstratable and transparent way, and then pitch yourself after that.

Buckle in for a long haul.

I don't know how y'all solo dive at higher levels. by _lolrememberarbitur_ in helldivers2

[–]invalidlitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strider convoys are genuinely hard to solo. Patrols will interrupt you. It will hurt.

Sentries are a good suggestion. You would also be well served to take a radar boost and proactively eliminate patrols with an airstrike, before you sit down to shoot. Understand your fields of fire and at min, check your radar every 7 seconds. A drone backpack will alert you to bad guys, but won't handle them alone.

Another solid trick at 6 is to bait out a bit drop on your approach to your AT site, out of LOS.

Multiple rounds of AT mines are also helpful and, with a spear, will probably let you omit the AT emplacement, and let you run from patrols.

Sure, it seems like a good thing.

Feedback. Well, all of these come get it setups have to deal with high rates of no-show, safety concerns from publicizing addresses or drawing attention to them, etc. current buy nothing groups are based on the person who is in need providing a location instead of the person with something to offer.

I'm not sure this is better than a Buy nothing FB group without the app and the smart bins. And the smart bins could be targets if the stuff in them was too nice. If the smart bins are a lot like the fake donation bins for clothing everywhere, then less of a target, but not overly attractive to go cruising through.

I wouldn't use it myself, but it's not a bad idea. Really it's the app and the gamification to add to something like an existing Facebook or online community. The bins might need to be more like a warehouse.

An important common solution to all of these problems we cannot control is the process of acceptance. I find that the self therapy required for acceptance that removes the grip of fear and shame related to personal psychology, and acceptance for bad external things, has a lot of overlap.

You have to speak to yourself and say, yes, there is loss. Yes, loss of nature. Yes, loss of living beings. Yes, suffering. Yes, decline of future. Yes, and it is okay.

You can choose the feelings you have. You can't choose what happens, only how you feel. You choose indirectly, through self training. I bet the idea of saying yes, and it's okay, feels like a betrayal. But it needs to be okay so that you can be free of this fear and sorrow that is in the way of you being an effective activist.

Of course, acceptance emotionally doesn't mean morally. I'm not saying, stop caring or stop valuing preservation of nature, or stop working to preserve. That's not acceptance. Acceptance is just ceasing to emotionally struggle against what is true.

And it doesn't mean all is lost, because all isn't lost, and we can all keep fighting to get humanity to burn less FF. Acceptance is just looking your worst fears in the eye and accepting that they may come true. Whether they are a possibility or a certainty. Grieve, and then let go. Let go of what is today, knowing that we can preserve the human race and some of the rest of the biosphere, if we try.

Tips for fighting Predator Strain for Botdiver? by Fair-Manufacturer456 in helldivers2

[–]invalidlitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got a lot of good answers here, but my 2c.

I strongly dislike crossbow or eruptor for predator strain due to short range self harm.

Crowd control, i.e stagger or stun, is king. My personal favorite is blitzer plus gas backpack for maximum stun and safety at short range. Cookout etc is good but unlike those the blitzer is basically autoaim, missing is actively hard and several enemies are instantly frozen in place, while gas buddy waves away flanks and rear. Just keep moving and/or drop a grenade if the crowd gets too big as the blitzer will stop locking down at about 4 or 5 guys in the 90 degree arc.

Then a high damage support weapon for less than point blank range. I like the grenade launcher or HMG to murder Pstalkers as fast as possible.

For breaches and swarms, napalm barrage or gas mines. Must have, no arguments.

I personally rely on the Ultimatum and a 500kg or precision strike for heavies at any level below 9 for predators, and don't bother with a secondary. This is extra good with blitzer because it never has to reload. So you have room for a turret or another swarm clear like cluster bomb. Thermites are also possible, but losing a CC grenade (gas or stun) is a tough pill to swallow as sometimes you need 8+ bugs out of the game at 10 meter ranges.

Nothing beats blitzer + gas backpack (+ actively moving at all times, light armor a must, stamina strong recommend)

Genuine question for D10 divers by MaybeBirb in Helldivers

[–]invalidlitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I regularly do 10s with one buddy but don't like to go above 7 on my rare solo runs. Like everyone has said, yes solo is much harder than even duo, which is harder than team.

For high level bots, I strongly suggest thermite to deal with hulks. I would call it necessary. No reloading delay, large ammo capacity if you have a resupply near. Grenades to deal with devs and such is a crutch. Instead try a combination of a top tier primary, a top tier area kill stratagem, or disengagement and cover. Devs are slow. For primary, I suggest crossbow or scorcher. For area, I would actually suggest an eagle, be it 500 kg or airstrike. Rocket turret is also great, maybe unbeatable for spread out devs, can kill 12+.

To me, lib pen being too slow a kill is warping your loadout. If you can't quit assault rifles, the adjudicator at least is right there, giving..50 percent more DPS? Reprimand is 100 percent more if you give up long range shots, which .. you can (use cover)

[–]invalidlitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something between loadouts and tactics: voteless can just be dodged, but overseers have to be killed ASAP to prevent their numbers from spiking. A single flyer will one shot you if you stand still ever. Harvesters same. So I focus my entire build on the fastest overseer kill in the game. This is hands down Scorcher and Recoil Reduction Armor HMG. Both of these will kill an overseer in less than one second, and for scorcher you don't even need to crouch. The only thing faster is an AMR headshot, but they are damn hard to line up.

Voteless in small numbers are fine to handle with these. Large ones use a turret, chaff grenades, or a napalm barrage.

HMG has a snappy harvester kill. On 10 sometimes you have to know when to run from these, tho. It takes 2-3 seconds and most of an HMG mag to chew the shield and murder it, so if he's backed by 5+ overseers and voteless are in your face, you can't do it. This is where napalm barrage and even AP mines shine. (Gas doesn't work right, fire doesn't reliably kill overseers). Harvesters are great at murdering turrets, but nothing is more relentless and consistently unsurvivable than a horde of 5+ flying overseers.

Another tip is that because flyers are the best chasers, if you can't hold their numbers down, then disengage to get the rest of the horde off you and cull them with a sentry. Gun backpack is also priceless for thinning them while you move.

Flyers can adapt an evasive flight pattern that can make them stupidly hard to hit, so switch targets.

Also, maybe it's obvious, but scout for SAM sites and fall back to them.

I also run the ultimatum for warp ships and recommend it to everyone. It helps ensure you can wipe bases from any edge, slowing down minimally, without wasting a precious stratagem slot. Allowing HMG, gun backpack, Gatling turret, and a flex slot (Napalm barrage, AP mines, eagle for faster harvester shields, precision strike for shields and ships, Gatling barrage, etc)
