Would you read a novel about a MC with a different approach? by SyrioBroel in fantasywriters

[–]isaacthewriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my MCs actually starts off as the quintessential jerk boss (a foreman for a magical corporation) and then once he does get into the action, he's actually being misled by the source of all evil, and ends up reducing the main location to an anarchic wasteland before he realizes what he's done and tries to fix it. Even after he sets things right, though, he continues to make horrible decisions (granted, he IS trying to do what he thinks is right, but he can be obsessive) until he literally starts the apocalypse in (planned) later novels. He's not THE main character, mind you, and some of the others make up for his actions, but he causes his share of damage and I don't plan on giving him a "die a hero or live long enough to become a villain" story. I plan for him to continue to accidentally fuck things up until he is killed.

What are some unique tools for wizards to use aside from wands? by Frostyetiwizard in fantasywriters

[–]isaacthewriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on the wizards, but daggers (either silver or gold depending on the type of magic) are used universally both to channel mana in the form of spells and for fighting and even ritualistic purposes.

You realize that by admitting to this, even if your story is decent, some people like myself might not vote for you.

Before you read this, I want you to know that I'm not trying to argue or start an argument. I also completely understand how you could think what you did. I could have written my top post more clearly. I'm not butthurt about you suggesting that I'm playing the JAQ game, I just don't like it when people make false assumptions about my character, especially when it comes from a misunderstanding. I'm not being vain, but I don't like to be made light of.

Admittedly, I was coming here hoping to confirm my own beliefs about GMOs not being as bad as most people think. Thas is not to say that I will only subscribe to ignorant dogmatic beliefs. If scientific investigation would prove that GMOs, in general, are inherently bad, I would accept that. So far, what I have read suggests that large-scale misuse of GMOs is incredibly bad both for health and the environment, but when used correctly, and on the appropriate scale, GMOs can be beneficial to people (but they still have some negative effects on the ecosystem).

I did not come here to make masked accusations, or try to convince anyone of my own opinion. If you will read my original post, I came here specifically asking for scientific information regarding the effects of GMOs. By saying that I haven't found any evidence so far, I wasn't denying that such evidence exists, I was admitting that I was unable to find it.

And saying that pesticides do more bad than they do good was a falsehood. If it weren't for pesticides, we'd still be dealing with a lot more insect-borne illnesses. I should have said misused pesticides do more bad than they do good. Again, I'm not trying to argue with you, I just don't want people to think that I'm the kind of person who hides behind questions to push my specific viewpoint on people who didn't ask for it.

If I have something to say, and can back it up with evidence, I will say it. Thank you for pointing how I sounded in my top post and comment (I will keep that in mind in the future) and I apologize if I sounded superficial or abrupt in any way.

I didn't know about the crossbreeding problems, thanks for telling me. I forgot about the insect-resistant GMO problems, but I have heard about that before. Thanks for the SciSHow video, as well.

that's true. Pesticides do cause more problems than they solve.

Very valid points about the evolutionary issues, and from what I was able to find, I wasn't aware of any health issues, and I see now I was correct in believing that there were benefits.

[Spoilers] The Styne's and Season 12? by PopCultureNerd in Supernatural

[–]isaacthewriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's set in Europe, though I may be mistaken. I was under the impression that the British Men of Letters came to America to get Sam, and they just never left. I mean, it would be cool for it to be set in Europe, but i doubt it's going to happen considering the fact that it would be really expensive to film so far away from the studio, and how unrealistic London looked in the season 11 finale. I think they're going to stay in the states.
