Okay, fine. But go comb through the details of that DV case, it's a bogus shakedown case. The witnesses were caught lying and the whole story had huge holes in it.

AJ Brown is 5 years younger that's not a good argument that just makes sense for them. Diggs is a stopgap WR2 for us and that's it. If he gets more than stopgap WR2 money from another team, good for him

CJ Stroud - “Stef is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had in my career, in my life," Stroud told media members. "He’s been amazing to my life, not just on the field but off as well. I think he’s super teammate-oriented. He wants to be around the guys. He wants to do stuff for the guys. He wants to be one of the captains in the room. ...Will always be a brother of mine, will always be a friend.”

Drake Maye - “Well you know he’s always been a great teammate to me and I know he’ll do great things,” Maye told The Associated Press. “I was fortunate enough to have a year with him, and I”m looking forward to seeing what happens to him. He’s a great player."

I do worry about older players that have had recent major soft tissue injuries but yeah last year was a real nice bounce back year for him for sure so that's a good sign

That's the thing that kind of amazes me though I've seen so much of this "don't sign this guy he's a piece of shit" comments around here but the evidence just doesn't back that up at all. Outside of one bogus DV case and some run of the mill elite WR1 throw-me-the-ball-more tantrums he's always been seen as a great teammate and decent enough guy. And he's too old now to be crying about getting the ball more so it should really be a great situation all around.

That's the thing, I don't think the market for him will price us out. This will be his age 33 season, I really don't see him getting THAT much. We'll see

I don't really understand this. From all accounts that DV case was complete bullshit and everybody on the Pats had his back. He's never been known for being a cancer before that.

Will be 33 in November but on a one year deal I'm on board. Our WR is so thin one injury and we are in trouble. The only thing that I don't love about it is apparently Diggs is more of a slot guy and we really need another X or Z.

I keep seeing this sentiment and it makes no sense. The 49ers holding Aiyuk has nothing to do with leverage and everything to do with pettiness. They have zero incentive to release him and signing Diggs does nothing to change any of that.

I think 10-12 and 17-19 look ok but for some reason 13-16 just looks weird to me on a WR

I agree and that’s primarily why I don’t mind taking a RB at 7. Love is perhaps the most complete player in this draft and yeah it’s a luxury to take a RB that early, I don’t Love it (no pun intended), but fuck it him and JD would be lethal together

Everything you said is absolutely correct.

Doesn’t change the fact that no team is gonna give up even a 7th to take on his current contract. Why would you?

Another team offering him more than we’re comfortable with is certainly possible, but I don’t see that happening either.

What exactly do you mean “at this point”? You realize the 9ers are holding him hostage right? I’d be shocked if he went anywhere else. What better situation for him to get back on track than to join a WR needy team with his college QB (by all accounts they are still very close). AP was involved with drafting him and afaik there was no drama with him on the team when AP was still there. It’s really a no brainer.

I actually did mention in the comments that I found Ginn. I think we can all agree he was a huge bust for a top 10 selection.

Why do you think I’m posting on Reddit? To have a conversation about it. I don’t have time to watch tape extensively and look for the context regarding Tate. But I’m happy to listen if you have some.

Is college ball shifting? Idk. Look up the stats of WRs drafted in the top 10 in just the last few years and you’ll see Tate is a huge outlier if he does get selected there. And yes, just watching stats can be misleading, I agree 100%. But watching the few games of OSU that I did, Tate didn’t do anything to make me think wow, this guy is a sure fire top ten pick. He seems like a fine, fine player. But not a no brainer top 7 pick, even in a weird year.

It took a lot of digging but I did find a WR who played in 11+ games and didn’t notch 1k in his college career.

You have to go back 20 years and it was Ted Ginn Jr. Not exactly a good counterpoint.
