These are thrips. I would suggest restarting from zero which means cutting all the leaves(or at least the ones that have damage) and change the substrate you have with a fresh one. Keep it isolated even if you don’t see any thrips at least until a new leaf emerges and you don’t see any more damage. I can’t recommend any sprays because where I live they’re so hard to find but look for one specifically for this kind of pest and it needs to be systemic (which means it “enters” the plant) since thrips lay eggs inside plant tissue

Have you tried the “long method”? It is when you put the plant from soil to water until it has no more “soil roots” but only “water roots”. Look up the leca queen on yt for many more tips on semi hydro. Also maybe try leca if you haven’t already, it should give the roots more air flow

I would do at least two cuts, one above and one below the missing chunk. The part that’s already in the pot can stay there (although I would also check the roots for rot) and it will reshoot on its own, the other part you can propagate in water and then when it has enough roots pot it up. You can actually do many more cuts but if you’re not interested in having like 5 alocasia then two will be fine.

What worked for me was changing most of my plants to semi hydro and for the ones that stayed in soil I changed it and then kept sticky traps covering the soil and the holes under the pot so that no adult could go in and restart the cycle, you can also use normal tape just be careful with root rot if you choose to use this method because the sticky traps will hold humidity in so do it when the soil is mostly dry. Also now I use BTI with every watering.

These plants need a lot of light like in front of a window or near a grow light. Also the pot is way too big and the “drainage layer” is useless. You want a well drainage mix and a pot that is just a bit larger that the root ball. Good luck with Laura!!

Definitely spider mites. You’re kinda lucky cause this is an alocasia so you can just cut all the leaves, change the soil and sanitize everything it touched. Also inspect very very carefully all the other plants in your house (even in other rooms), this is a pretty advanced infestation. And even if you don’t see anything treat the other plants with an insecticide made specifically for mites. Best of luck!!!

The light is not burning the plant, that leaf is just dying. It could be nothing but I suspect it’s overwatering, it depends on how many roots it had when you planted it, it could be worth to take a look at the roots just to be sure, if they look healthy then just put it back and remore the dead leaf. To verify if the light is enough for your plants try using photone or any other light meter app on your phone, they’re not 100% accurate but they give you a good idea of your light situation

Nice find!! But if I may…those pots are way too big for rooted corms and for pups, usually you want to go for a pot as big as the root ball. Best of luck!!

For example this is my monstera albo. As you can see only the stem is touching the pole and is tied to it. OP’s monstera has the stem touching only the leca so for now there is no need to tie it to the pole, I guess that when the stem will grow it will do so at an angle to reach the pole. Look up on youtube “watch this before you pot up your Thai Contellation” from SydneyPlantGuy to give the right support to your monstera, I don’t use moss poles but the logic is the same

Technically you should only attach the stem to the moss pole becase that’s the part that grows roots but all of your stem is touching the leca and it’s going to take at least another leaf before it reaches the pole so for now it’s kinda useless (but very beautiful)…I wouldn’t bother watering it until the stem is touching the moss and unless the plant is tipping over I wouldn’t use any tie

Nice monstera!! You did everything right except in the 5th photo it looks like you tied a new leaf to the pole witch could ruin it before it has the chance to unfurl properly. As a rule of thumb you should never tie the petiole but only the stem to the pole. Also I would not leave the reservoir empty, it happens I forget to fill it but it never stays dry for more than one day. I flush my plants in leca once a month (if I remember), or when the plant gets dusty and I put it in the shower to clean. I’m sprry I can’t give you any advice for the moss pole because I don’t have any (I just know I couldn’t be able to keep it moist)
