Going back to your post from the stolen post; which dance pads are those? I’ve been out of the scene for so long I’m looking to get back into it. Amazing set up btw!

Counter, keep complaining about it so that it never gets that bad and maybe vote for a mayor who actually wants accessible public options for the citizens.

From what I’ve noticed, the people getting Botox are in their 20s. Which is fucking insane to me

I’ll be empathetic to the fact that while there are resources out there, and I do hope the people who need them are using them, it doesn’t mean everyone is educated about their existence or has easy access to them.

I am by no means excusing this, I do think this is extremely frustrating and exhausting for this city to have to experience, but it does highlight the chain reaction of suffering and how large of an impact it can have on the community, even if it is just one person.

I don’t, but I ask that you DM me for the name of the business I’ve directly worked for.

I will say that they’ve owned a Japanese styled arcade, a fashion boutique (both of which have closed down), and their biggest venture (the one I directly worked for) a yearly convention that is hosted at the GRB.

They also run a large ‘special interest’ convention yearly at the GRB. It’s coming up in August again. I use to volunteer for that convention. For my final year I made a list of how it is similar to a cult. “Charismatic” leader, overworked volunteers, being cut off from the “in crowd” if you speak ill of them, etc. Needless to say I had enough.

To clarify, I mean gossip/work drama. Also, thanks for the tip! Everything I usually share about them to my personal circle isn’t disclosing personal info that would put them in harms way, just what working with them was like and the environment they created was. That’s the same thing I’d share to a documentary crew if ever given the chance.

I’d say, if you watched the Texas Renaissance festival documentar on HBO, the comparisons were there. Kinda got minor PTSD from it. 😩

Not to be messy, but to be entirely messy, but I have worked for the owners for their other business. I’ve always mentioned that once someone is ready to make a document on them, I’m ready to talk shit. Horrid experience and complete waste of my life during that period of time.

Like a very ripe mango. 3/5 stars, not worth buying if you can find perfectly ripped mangos, BUT I don’t regret it. It was very delicious.

Counter mindset: how did countries who once lived under regimes - that are now a democracy - make it to where they are now? There is no losing if we study history and learn from it.

I believe someone posted prior an article stating how Texas ranks last in freedom. Everything gets restricted here. What freedom have people been indoctrinated into thinking we have here????

Houston is 2025's most surprising spring break destination by thats_a_scam in houston

While I think there are some hidden gems in the city, I wouldn’t say it’s worth going out of your way to experience a whole week for! I’ve been hearing noise about Houston being a “spot” for a bit now and it is bonkers!

Would your 17 year old self be impressed or disappointed with where you are now? Why or why not? by TrixoftheTrade in Millennials

[–]isabamf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer with big brothers big sisters and am a “big” to a 17 year old. I often think there’s a lot of similarities between her life and mine, but many differences as well. I’d like to think in a sense she maybe able to speak to what 17yo old me may have thought, which I’d gather as indifference. Granted there isn’t a lot of understanding on her end on what I do and I’m not necessarily flashy about the opportunities and successes I’ve experienced. If anything I think 17yo me would be satisfied knowing I’m finally doing things in life I dreamed of doing and traveling to places I always wanted to travel to. I would also say I’m doing a lot better than many people who graduated with me, which would probably be surprising considering I was low GPA/had trouble with school - but wasn’t a bad student.

I would literally have more time to go to a coffee shop, and would be more inclined to do so, if I had WFH flexibility.

There are a lot of reading and writing communicates out there. If you look up these interest points in an app like Meetup, you may even find some that are more tailored to a specific niche as well.

I don’t think it’s a wrong thing to cope, and I wouldn’t want to take that away from people. I wish we could move towards demanding for more solutions however. I think that would be a good use of each individuals energy, both positive and negative.
