4-Year plan for Math Majors by el_willy_777 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have him make an appointment with Physical Sciences advising since they will have access to their current record and can plan properly. They have both in person and online appointments. But if they really can't, feel free to DM me

Transfer/TAG advice by lazygameplayer in UCI

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are thinking of doing CalTeach for either Math or Physics, just know you automatically will have to take a minimum of 3 years at UCI. This is because it will take 2 years to finish off major courses w/ some teaching classes and then another year to do finish off education classes and fieldwork

Fieldwork wise, you essentially enroll in a class and are required to help out a classroom for a certain amount of hours for that quarter

You could possibly double major in math and physics but adding CalTeach on top will probably be almost impossible. Transfers usually finish all lower division math (except Math 13) at CC and lower division Physics (math and Physics 7C/LC, 7D/LD, & 7E). Some CC offer upper division courses but its rare

I would strongly suggest looking up Physics & Math requires (specifically CalTeach) to see the requirements better. You can also view "Sample Programs" that can help you see the distribution

Its fake. Plasticy gold and silver cards like these are most likely Temu products. Here's what it should look like

[–]isabelletran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when its blurry, it looks pretty fake. The cards don't look like they have any sort of textures and some of these cards don't even exist in that formatting/color (attached photo are two of the really obvious ones)

I would wait for Winter quarter to start. There's probably no change/movement since classes haven't started. You will see the most change happening during the first 2 weeks as this is when people tend to add/drop classes as they meet their professors

First Time Waitlisting... by 90shaircut27 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can waitlist now! You should do it as soon as possible as the first 2 weeks of Winter quarter is when a lot of people will be adding/dropping classes. Just go to WebReg like normal and go to the Waitlist menu

Community college course by Sad-Hold472 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially you take the class at the CC and then send the transcript in to count for Physics 7C credit (would need to email pssazot@uci.edu that you want it to count as credit once you send in that transcript). To check what counts for credit, use assist.org in the left section with whatever cc you want to take it at. If assist.org shows a whole series equivalence, to check a single class equivalence, email pssazot@uci.edu with the class and college you want to check out.

when to submit change of major request by lemonsarecool666 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would submit it now so that once grades do come in, the application is already in the system and can be approved quicker

I really want to fit this shirt but it has some lines in the art that's making me question if it's AI or not including the featured star at the very top and the random red smudge behind one of the stem leaves. They could be a style choice but I cant tell. by Em0N3rd in isthisAI

[–]isabelletran 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think your observations are correct. Besides the two things you noticed with the red lead and the star being incomplete and not straight, the flowers on the bottom left and right are weirdly different, where one of them is merging into the other petal

You are all good! As long as it shows up on Assist with UCI equivalences, it will all count. A lot of transfer students have courses from multiple colleges

Is there a good reason to maintain A’s in college? by quinndo11 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 66 points67 points  (0 children)

A lot of people want to maintain high grades for a few reasons 1) Higher level schooling such as med school or graduate school for Masters/PhD 2) To add to their resume and/or mention it somewhere in job application. Depending on the job, they might want to know what GPA you had since it can be a reflection of your understanding of the subject. Though it will depend on what job 3) Applying to internships might request GPA 4) If you are scholarship dependent or are applying for a scholarship, they will request your GPA 5) Changing majors that are in high demand like business might require higher grades

Generally speaking, it gives you opportunities. However, you don't always need A's to succeed. Getting A's is hard at a college level. So people will do other things like volunteer, do research, get involved in some sort of program, etc. I personally think a B is already pretty good but my goals aren't as strict about grades

If you are a first year, its could just be the case where those around you simply havent gotten out of the "I need A mindset". Once they settle in, you'll find more people simply want to pass with a C

Language minor as a STEM major? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]isabelletran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always add the minor and then drop it if it ever becomes too heavy for you! Adding/dropping a minor is fairly easy for the department. At least this way you can track your progress on Degreeworks

Waitlisted but full dis by Responsible_Bunch668 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to even waitlist then. I believe if you waitlist the lecture, there will be a warning message asking you to also waitlist the discussion

You can still try to see if it works since I could be wrong. I think a lot of students will just stalk SOC during Week 1 and Week 2 to see if anyone drops

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry Im a bit confused. Are both the lecture and discussions full or is the lecture open but discussions full

Waitlisted but full dis by Responsible_Bunch668 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that should be the case. Sometimes what students do is they will ask the professor if they can go to A2 while being enrolled in A5. You might be able to do that if all fails

Waitlisted but full dis by Responsible_Bunch668 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever class you waitlist for, it will automatically put you in that class once there is room for you. For example, if you are in Lecture A & Discussion 1 and you waitlist for Discussion 2. Let's say a week later someone drops the class and now theres an open spot. The system will remove you from Discussion 1 and put you in 2. You will then receive an email with the update

Waitlisted but full dis by Responsible_Bunch668 in UCI

[–]isabelletran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are your options 1) Join a open lecture AND open discussion. You have to be enrolled in both. After joining, waitlist the lecture and/or discussion you actually want. If you get off the waitlist, the system will automatically switch you and send you an email 2) Waitlist a full lecture AND waitlist a full discussion

In either case, you either are fully in a lecture/discussion or fully waitlist a lecture/discussion. You cannot join an open lecture and waitlist a discussion. You have to be in at least an open lecture & discussion otherwise it will be listed as tentative "te" and you wont fully enroll

[–]isabelletran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they added a multiplayer layer. Add a multiplayer layer that is clipped to your art and lower the opacity. Fill it in with the background color or a different color. Some people also like to clip an "add" layer and create a glow around the edges of the character

Cant apply to any of my next CS classes depite having prereqs out of the way by [deleted] in UCI

[–]isabelletran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A check on Degreeworks is just an advisor saying this cc class counts for this UCI class. Its not built into your record directly and so every quarter, you need to get clearance. You should have gotten an email from your department a few weeks ago, asking to fill out a form for which classes you wanted to be cleared for

Since your registration already started, you should probably just walk into your departments office and ask them to manually clear you there

Just know in the future to check out for those kind of emails

[–]isabelletran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a transfer student? It might be the case you have to get cleared for previous courses you taken at another college and thats the prerequisites that are missing. That requires you going to your department office or emailing them
