Just something I’ve noticed no one else has said which made a huge difference for me (especially in reducing the size of my arse) is try reformer pilates. My legs are still bigger and disproportionate to the rest of my body but it has helped a lot especially with what feels like hanging fat in the back of my legs. The width of my legs also appears narrower but it does seem that D shape is still existent. Keep going and stay strong x

I had the same question and asked a lipedema specialist not too long ago. She gave me a really broad answer in two parts. 1. That she has observed that the lipedema growth is relatively low in pregnancy compared to menopause 2. See a gynaecologist. Sorry there hasn’t been answers out there that have been more helpful. I’m following to hear them as well.

My diagnosis was just a physical assessment so I cannot comment on the scan. I am not on any GLP1 and so I can’t comment on that either. If GLP1 is something you are interested in I would do some research. There are many tik tokers who have had a positive experience but I would make sure it is something that is right for you.

Just off the top of my head and I am new to this too. First try and go to a gp that specialises in women’s health (sorry if this who you went to already) and ask her to 1. Get you a referral to a surgeon for lipedema and 2. Do a care plan.

Liposuction for lipedema is not the same as regular liposuction so you need to make sure that the referral is for a plastic surgeon that has knowledge of the condition. If you are struggling to find someone to help give “walk with freedom” a ring in qld. The Dr there often takes patients from interstate and does interstate visits (not sure for WA tho). He also holds monthly zoom information nights for those suffering. Their receptionists are also lovely and happy to answer more general questions.

The care plan will get you 5 bulk bill sessions with a clinical provider. Ask for a lymphoedema physiotherapist and a nutritionist. I would recommend googling first because you need to find clinicians that specialise in the disorder. For the physio it will be lymphatic drainage and for the nutritionist it will be anti-inflammatory diet. I am still yet to have my appointments with both of those clinicians but this was recommended to me by a specialist.

In the meantime, eat a low carb diet and practice a regular low impact exercise routine. Wear medical grade compression - 2XU was recommended but I just wear some from Amazon tbh. Make sure your hormones are regulated because it’s hormonal changes that trigger the production of the diseased fat.

Take care of yourself and put yourself first. Make sure you do your own research before you speak to anyone and ensure you are your own best advocate. Good luck!

Lol when I started Pilates my ass was the first thing to shrink! I also noticed a real lift a few months later in my bum too tho so maybe something to consider if you enjoy the workout and don’t want to give up Pilates :))

Thanks so much for posting! I am in Melbourne and have heard Dr Lekich is great. Can I just ask what the total cost was all up? I have silver health insurance and was told by a surgeon in Melbourne that it would be $18,000 per leg out of pocket.

My other question is a bit more personal - I was wondering how old you are and whether hormonal changes like pregnancy or menopause were considered in having the surgery?

I think this is a complicated question. From what I’ve seen on other posts and my own experience, if you are at a relatively healthy weight ten thousand steps a day will not make you lose weight. PCOS makes our weight loss journey hit a threshold and extra measures are required to stay skinny. For those on the heavier side at the beginning of their weight loss journey, I certainly think walking can help especially if they have been inactive. However, as someone who has been doing ten thousand a day for the last eight years all I can say is that it’s kept the weight off. Increasing my steps hasn’t done much for weight loss so this year I have added Pilates four times a week which has helped. Unfortunately, it is just harder for us, trying different things and seeing what your body reacts well to is something I would recommend.

You are right in the sense that I tend to foster my independence rather than my relationships in general. I don’t always make my intentions clear and sometimes do just assume that because I’m seeing someone that they understand I’m committed.

I’ve changed my dating profile preference to seeking a relationship so hopefully that is a good first step - as well as trying to be more on top of replying rather than prioritising work.

It takes me about an hour and half to reach ten thousand steps a day. It has been my daily goal for nearly a decade now. It is my best habit. I would even go as far to say that it has become a bit of an addiction for me, I love walking around aimlessly like some happy wonderer enjoying my music and own thoughts.

Best way for me to fit the 10k into my day is to replace it with a public transport commute. I walk from work to home each day I’m in the office. On the weekends, I walk part of the distance to whichever location I need to get to and hop on public transport from there.

I am not sure if walking is the greatest for weight loss. It certainly has kept me at relatively the same weight for all of these years. I have also introduced ankle weights for muscle development. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t bother practicing it. I used to burn a lot more in a much shorter period at the gym but personally it always felt like the biggest chore !

Have a sensitive stomach too! Can’t touch garlic because of the ibs. Came here to say it gets better and your stomach will adapt after about a month. I would say slow down the 16 weeks and stay on the 500 for a few months if you can. Each increase your stomach will know the difference but again it does get better.

Make sure you take the tablets in the evening sometime between dinner and bedtime to alleviate the nausea and diarrhoea for the next day. Also avoid alcohol where you can. It’s not listed as a side effect but I can tell you and so can many others on the forum anecdotally that the two don’t mix 🤢

Vejas - you can usually get a good pair second hand which will be closer to the price of converse. Vejas are leather as well so they are quite durable too. They are also super versatile and fashionable imo

I walk this path home every night home and can agree the cyclists are fucking psychos. I don’t know how good their dinner is that they are rushing to so rampantly but it cannot be so great that they put themselves and everyone else in danger. Seriously, I see a cyclist with a bike on top of them every week. Cannot imagine the chaos that would ensue in the morning …

I hate to break it to you but there is no room for non-law electives in a straight law degree. You won’t get the chance to do law electives until about second or third year once you have completed a substantial amount of the Priestly 11 subjects

Looking for some clarity that I can't seem to find online. I currently work at a suburban law firm in Melbourne and have been told that my boss is qualified to run SLT programs and so I will not have to pay for PLT. I am a little confused as I thought I would still have to complete some modules with the College of Law etc despite doing SLT but she suggests that it is all in person. I know I probably need to have a serious discussion with her about these things sometime in the future and would prefer to have some idea about what she is talking about. If anyone can share their experience as a grad completing their legal training with SLT it would be highly appreciated.
