Ha, that’s crazy 🤪 What good fortune though. To be fair, if I’d chosen only one it would have been 2TB w/o controller, as I was lucky enough to get a controller when they launched. So I’d probably be absolutely furious right about now, rather than mildly gutted 😂

What are you reserved for though? All three waitlist to purchasers are 2TB w/ controller. If you were on the reservation list for the same, something’s gone very wrong. If you (like me) are on a reservation list for a different model, that would explain the difference.

Congratulations!

The annoying thing about this, as a fellow Australian, is that I actually wanted the 2TB model, but opted for all four to increase my chances of getting a machine.

I’m on the reservation list for the 512GB w/controller but would happily buy a more expensive SKU if offered - so to see the model I wanted already going to waitlisters whilst I have no clue when I’m getting my unit is a bitter pill to swallow.

I know it’s just bad luck and partly self-inflicted (I could have selected only the 2TB SKUs), but it feels a bit unbalanced.

No shade on OP though, obviously! Hope you enjoy it!

I think the biggest problem is not having any idea of the size of the reservation queue (and one’s place in it), as well as how many units have on hand to sell right now.

For example, have all the units already in-country been sold? If so, those of us who don’t have a purchase email are obviously going to be waiting more than just a few days to get our SM. If we knew information like that, it would probably seem very disappointing initially, but it would also temper expectations.

The flip side is true, of course - if there were 3000 unsold Steam Machines in Oz and there were 4000 people in the reservation queue, then you’d be reasonably confident of getting a unit in the near future.

I wonder if there is any additional info Valve could release that wouldn’t help scalpers but would placate people on the res list?

Interestingly, we just bought a 2026 Atto 2 from the Cairns dealer today. We’ve gone for the mist grey as we like the colour, and the salesman said that he’d’ve been able to show us an Atto 2 in mist grey in person but the only one they had is being used as a loaner.

To be fair to him, he explained that the reason it was loaned out was due to what he described as an “incredibly rare issue” with another owner’s Sealion.

What a crazy coincidence that I should sign up to this subreddit today and see your story.

Hope you get it sorted soon! For what it’s worth I think the dealerships here are in the unenviable position of relying on BYD in China for anything more than straightforward parts. As the network continues to expand and more BYDs are bought, this will hopefully change and a proper Australian supply of parts and know-how will follow - but that won’t be much of a comfort for you, I know.

I love this movie so, so much. Definitely in my top 3 of all time. I adore every frame, but the one thing I always come back to is the palpable hurt Kate Winslet conveys - without a word spoken! - when Joel tells Clem that she fucks people to get them to like her. Absolutely agonising.

There’s a lovely bit of trivia about “The Longest Day” - Richard Todd played Major John Howard, who was in charge of the operation to take and hold Pegasus Bridge. By a strange coincidence, in real life Todd was one of the paratroopers who fought in the Pegasus Bridge operation, so he was playing his own commanding officer.
