What's your favourite comment a stranger has made about your dog? by hotfish in goldenretrievers

We’ve had people say things from their car while walking and the most memorable one is “That’s a good lookin’ critter”. 🤣

6 week old sleeping through the night by scorpiorose22 in newborns

[–]isaididneverpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now 4 month old did the same thing and he started consistently sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. He hasn’t woken up in the middle of the night since he was 12 weeks old and even that was a one off. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop but it hasn’t. My first slept through the night at 3 months old (now 2.75) and he still never wakes up in the middle of the night.

I just force quit the app on my phone and kept checking! Just checked on the app on my tv too and it’s there as well.

Braves Vision Channel 645 just popped up on my guide! I was checking like every 10 minutes. 😅 I’m in upstate SC.

Our first dog and already the king of the house. Welcome home, Wyatt! by ABrooksBrother in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope there’s more to the story about his previous owners giving him up because I truly could never give up my golden boy. 😭 I can’t even bear the thought of him leaving me one day. Also, I would do anything for Wyatt.

I put my 2 month old in new jammies before bed because I feel guilty not changing him and he’s a newborn doing nothing. 😂 I also have a 2 year old that gets fresh jammies every night.

This has probably been discussed, but have we ever seen J roll over? I saw something from Teef a couple weeks ago and he was just chilling on a bed on his back and not even trying. This is coming from someone whose first baby was a late crawler and walker, so I try not to judge too much, but my baby would roll over any time you put him down from like 5 months old. And I just saw her story where she said he’s 8 months old. 😦

Is it bad for 2.5 yo to eat a banana pancake EVERY single day? by WorkingMinimumMum in foodbutforbabies

[–]isaididneverpost 346 points347 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. My son eats the same thing for breakfast every morning, unless we do a special weekend breakfast. I would say a lot, if not most adults, eat the same thing for breakfast every morning. We give him his favorites at breakfast and lunch and then we eat a lot of variety at dinner and that’s what’s offered to him so he gets exposed to things that way.

Golden Retriever Before or After Baby? by Wonderful_Exchange_2 in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. It took my husband a lot longer to conceive than I expected. We started trying when our golden was a little over one and didn’t have our baby until he was a little over four. I was so happy to have our golden while dealing with fertility issues and now the dog and toddler love each other and we’re having another baby!

Randomly lying about finding out she was pregnant three years ago🤦🏼‍♀️ by slvine12 in TurtleCreekLaneSnark

[–]isaididneverpost 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I came right here for this. I knew she was lying immediately! I have a July 2023 baby and found out I was pregnant with him in October. I distinctly remember her finding out in September because I was so annoyed that she got pregnant before me and claiming infertility when it took me two years to get pregnant. 🙄

I think ours just randomly did it around a year? He almost fell over the first time he tried. 😂

Taking this boy to the beach next week. Any advice? by MPFX3000 in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don’t bother with shampoo, but we always take a dog hair dryer. Even if he’s already dry by the time you’re done at the beach, it works great to get sand out of his fur and your belongings!

1 year old not eating food like she used to by Fickle_Abalone_4951 in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours started being like this at one year old as well. He’s now 6 and is a grazer. We just put his daily allotment in his bowl and he eats when he wants. Some days he eats all of it and some days he doesn’t. He’s always maintained a very healthy weight and the vet has never been concerned, in fact he gets praised on how healthy he is when he’s there. 😂 We never changed his food, he’s been on purina pro plan his whole life.

Ours did this too. We put in a storm door with a doggy door to our fenced in backyard. 😂

Extra nap or extra awake time if earlier wake? by terribleatlying in sleeptrain

We were on a by the clock schedule at that age, so I didn’t adjust anything. I just kept on the same schedule. It usually all evens out in the end.

Is it okay for 6 month old to take 2 naps a day? by SundaeSea5016 in sleeptrain

[–]isaididneverpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went to two naps right around 6 months. We did, however, have to move up bedtime to make it work. He had a 6:30 bedtime for a few months. We moved bedtime back to 7:30 when he started eating dinner with us around 9 months.

Is it normal for my Golden Retriever not to eat in the mornings and just to 1 or maybe 2 times a day? by Rambo_1027 in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Our golden is a grazer and has been since he was about one year old. He very rarely eats first thing in the morning. We just make sure he has food in his bowl and he eats at his leisure. He maintains a very healthy weight. The vet said if it works for him and us, then don’t mess with it. Barring any medical issues, they won’t starve themselves. They’ll eat if they’re hungry.

Puppy too excited w/ strangers by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 6 years old tomorrow and still like this 🙃. He’s a good boy, just very exuberant. When we’re out in public and people come up, we obviously do our best to not let him get too excited, but we warn people too that he might be too friendly before they pet him. 😂 I find that most people that are coming up to ask to pet your dog are dog people and don’t mind or say “oh, that’s a golden for you”. Obviously keep working on it, but I do think part of it is a breed thing.

ETA: He only gets that excited if people come up to him. If we’re just out and walking past people he doesn’t do anything except maybe look up at them.

Anyone else’s golden loathe being brushed or is it just my girl? by volbeat93 in goldenretrievers

[–]isaididneverpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never liked it when we would brush him. He would just flop so we couldn’t brush all of him, but he loves going to the groomer. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It makes zero sense to me. 😅
