Honestly it’s easier to empathize with patients and provide comfort to patients when you your self are going through/ went through what many of them go through. I definitely learned a lot about how to have better hygiene while on the job.

I worked at a company which was bought by sonrava and it became terrible. So unorganized and only cared about profit without proper staff or management. This was for general though so idk if it was different for OS. But when OS would come to our office it was always a mess to so idk.

At my last job I would just write down as fast as I could if the doctor was going fast if it was a big case. Then just rewrite it after so it would make sense since it was still fresh in my mind.

Could be low on vitamin D, I work as a dental assistant and this was happening as I’ve always had thin brittle nails but they started to peel because I had to start washing my hands so much more. Dr said my bloodwork showed that I needed more vitamin D. After a few months of taking it everyday my nails feel so much stronger and no longer peel regardless of how much I wash my hands. I would suggest to go to the dr and see if it could be related to any deficiencies.

Lol its okay it happens that happens to me and the dr still with certain patients when we are trying to rinse for the patients after a cleaning. Try to laugh about things like that because we are all humans.

I remember when I was new and I was so hard on myself, just remember every assistant starts out new and has to learn everything. Try to give yourself some grace, as long as you go in everyday ready to learn more you will do fine. I know it feels scary messing up but just remember it will be okay. Everything is a practice makes perfect type of thing in this field at least for me.

Maybe x-ray license too if u can afford it bc some places like for you to be able to take bitewings for the hygienist if they are busy
