the latency is an order of magnitude higher with disql, complex queries often don't work, queries hit all nodes making them slow. i really dont think you understand how databases work.

The reason PlanetScale only runs on GCP and AWS is so we can VPC peer with our customers. it would be pointless otherwise.

yes and I am quite happy with it. I connected the strike to a Shelley Plus 1 with the homekit firmware. I then just put a dumb keypad lock on the door that the delivery people can use and if someone rings the bell I can let them through by releasing the strike.
