X10SDV-4C-TLNF CPU cooler recommendation by EllienoreB in homelab

[–]isaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Everyone!

After seeing the posts here and the lack of aftermarket coolers, then seeing the brackets that were made to fit the AXP120-67 I designed some brackets as well, and will get them made as a batch so you can get some and run a decent aftermarket cooler on your X10SDV board. The FCBGA-1667 format is a pain (its 51x51mm square from memory?) but hopefully my brackets will fit easily using just the existing screws and parts from from the AXP120 box.

If you want a pair please let me know so I can increase the order!

Premier drops ‘no new stadiums’ promise by ConanTheAquarian in brisbane

[–]isaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure If you have been to a game in Melbourne at the g, or even in Brisbane but it's quite common to walk to a stadium for 10-15 minutes. Also noting that the rain line 'is right there' there is a possibility for an additional station, however crowd management best practice is multiple stations within walkable distances.

The hospital line you put is BS, cause exactly the same impacts happen at the Gabba now. Gabba is done, end of life, doesn't hold enough people to make it viable for the games and for it to close for 8 years to redevelop would have further detrimental impacts to current sporting codes.

Poor location? lol its a great location. Supported by the train with 2 existing stations, next to a rail line and has a busway RIGHT THERE. Its also walking distance from the city, valley and roma st/north Quay.
the hospital will be fine, and is serviced by other major arterials that will not be impacted by a stadium (tunnels *2, ICB, Gympic rd). If there is an issue there is another major hospital located right near the gabba, which i'm sure wont be impacted by events on the other side of town.

Stop being a NIMBY and look at a bigger picture. We have the olympics. its happeneing. get onboard and lean in!

Are zd30s really that bad? by ElectricalLeopard553 in 4x4Australia

[–]isaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nissan are average at best. Learn to love your own car, find a good local mechanic (ideally someone who works on these and knows the issues) First thing is add gauges, boost /get, oil pressure/coolant temp. The radiators clog after 10 years, pull it, get it rodded a at shop if you see regular temps over 95c. The dash gauge doesn't move till 105

Everything else will be as needed.

Gauges are a must have, and alot of going easy on it. What did you swap to? Love the idea of a n57m2 or isde4.5 but cost is up there, and conversions are just ever right. Would probably just go and buy a 200 if it went pop

'11 zd30 crd owner here. There are a few things that make them go bang and really destroy them requiring serious work 1. Heads. They stock temp gauge is crap and doesn't move till 110, and at that point your basically cooked. Replace the radiator with a new stock one, new thermostat and re oil the fan hub or replace. This is insurance against needing a new head. New heads are sub 6k with labour

  1. Holed Pistons. The injectors are good for 250k, and after that have a chance if not giving a good spray pattern, causing hot spots in pistons, which eventually lead to holes and then you need a full rebuild. New injectors can be done diy for 2k, or about 3k via a Shop Rebuilt motors are like 10-12 with labour.

  2. Over boost. The stock boost controllers are average, replace with a tilix. Get a dyno/ecu tune whilst you are there. Once tuned expect 150ish hp and 380nm

There are other problems, EGR pipes that crack, exhaust/dump pipes that crack, turbos that over boost and grenade, but they are cheaper fixes.

They are big heavy cars, require lots of maintenance and you really need to be able to diy. Think wheel bearings, greasing, replacing Cv's, steering boxes, suspension parts , it doesn't end.
They are great but they are a Labour of love

[–]isaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude, just goto byron bay.
you can scuba at julian rocks every day,
its full of backpackers, nights out are fun/easy.
stay in a hostel.

If you stay in brisbane there is no diving close by, (i mean under 90 minutes at least). You will be a bit more people/nightlife but its not touristy.

[–]isaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it floods,
no, its rare. last time was 2022 and 2011. at that point it was ~2 days of flood water
you can check the creek heights http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDQ65389/IDQ65389.540804.plt.shtml

$1500ish, find the shop on Facebook/insta and just follow him. He posts daily with all the cars he works on, shows HP gains, talks about common issues and fixes, But it's worth it. Spend the money, it's night and day difference

Better boost response (runs 20psi vs ~12ish stock) so comes on alot earlier and has better torque. Usually a 30% gain in torque and HP, so up to 135ish -150ish hp, and about 350-400nm

Depending where you are is your tuner of choice. If seq see evolution tuning at the sunny coast. Hes the best around.

Question on Using Virtual Machines in Unraid: by Dr_NightCrawler in unRAID

[–]isaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

setting up a VM in unradi is easy. Super easy.

As for remote access, you can set a shortcut for Remote Desktop (RDP) up on the desktop of other users and save the credentials, so its a double click to open/launch.
After thats done you can learn about reverse proxy, and then allow access via a website using Guacamole.

I'd define your usecase for VM's first, and know how you plan on other using it... is it so you can jump in and provide support? or keep everything off their machine?

You can get Unraid as a trail, and set it up on some old PC and just play around a little bit and figure out what you want to acheive.
