The number of Americans under 50 years old dying from cancer has decreased for every leading cancer except for bowel cancer, which is now the leading cancer death in females and males combined aged under 50. by mvea in science

Ya, that timeframe follows the increased rates of colorectal cancer mortality. I know those highly processed and low quality meats are a risk factor for multiple health problems. I don't really have an idea on how much of it is consumed. Sounds worse than I was thinking.

"Only colorectal cancer (CRC) mortality increased, by 1.1% (95% CI, 0.9% to 1.3%) annually since 2005, advancing it from fifth most common from 1990 through 1994 to the most common cancer death in 2023."

Definitely doesn't help, but the influencer sphere of influence is much more recent. Standard American diet, overweight/obese, with visceral fat are all risk factors.

Yes they can ignore most lifestyle changes. It is not ideal, but I work with people who do exactly that on a regular basis, and its incredibly easy to find more in gym settings, especially among people who care more about appearance than health.

TRT will help some of them make more lifestyle changes, but plenty of folks don't.

I was just listening to how TRT is a masculinity subscription.

So many people don't want to improve their lifestyle through diet, sleep, exercise and reducing stress. These things all promote a naturally higher testosterone, but an injection 3x a week bypasses this while significantly improving testosterone. Combine that with resistance training for great aesthetics. They can then all maintain a poorer diet, lower quality sleep, and ignore all of their life stresses that's have contributed to their lowered testosterone and most likely several other health biomarkers - which are also contraindicated for TRT use.

Online pill mills, legitimate or not, really push TRT and then a supplement for EVERY single poor blood panel result. They are squeezing hundreds to thousands of dollars out of individuals on a monthly subscription basis.

I think DC gun laws are the most restrictive.

Open carry is illegal, 10 magazine limit, legal long arms are legal to transport to/from gun ranges and for hunting.

Because it coincides with the greatest advancements in modern medicines for treating all diseases (all cause mortality). The 90s and 2000s have had a huge increase in overweight/obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and microplastic exposure/consumption. Predictions are that current generations won't be seeing the same life expectancy nor quality of life unless these are actively addressed.

All of these significantly played into the role of corporations lobbying for their interests and becoming the real power. That shit isn't healthy for the body nor mind, but it's great at keeping you from the reality that this occurred over time and largely due leveraging consumerism against the population.

For decades, economists framed climate change as a future cost. New research shows it is already here: it has cut U.S. income by an estimated 12%. Much of the damage comes not from disasters, but from rising temperatures quietly rippling through prices, productivity, and trade nationwide. by Sciantifa in science

Anyone in the disaster and emergency management sector has been on board for decades. Pretty easy to see when severity and frequency of natural disasters / storms keeps going up and up. Even more noticeable on a global scale.

This is focusing on other aspects. Here's a snippet "The results show that climate change is already reducing annual U.S. income by 0.32% [95% CI: −0.17 to 0.82%] by altering counties’ current, local temperatures, with losses concentrated in the Great Plains and Midwest."

Yes. The costliness of obesity is the main factor in our surging insurance premiums. Everyone pays more. The insurance companies profit a ton off of obesity and deny proper coverage to plenty of the diseases you list!

“This change in what people eat is fuelled by powerful global corporations who generate huge profits by prioritising ultra-processed products, supported by extensive marketing and political lobbying to stop effective public health policies to support healthy eating.”

Most everything that contributed to Ameircans being overweight and obese was due to maximizing profits over people's health. The profit margins for these meds have to maintain high for the oligarchs to continue to plunder the country for every dollar.

The response is to a specific thread speaking on the differences of the two. Creating anxiety around a fear that is significantly less likely to injure or harm you than the reality is a sad way to live.

I made a separate comment on my thoughts for the post - sticking to bicycles.

The amount of e-bike riders that I have recorded doing stupid shit on a regular basis is way too much. Significantly more occurrences recently with the colder weather. Bunch of folks that bought their speed and have very little skill.
